Need Volunteers: Medical Camp & Distribution of Basic Goods to Sri Lankan Refugees

Dear All,

 

Guess you were updated on the "Medical Camp & Distribution of Basic Goods to Sri Lankan Refugees" on 13^th February 2011, 10.00 am to 2.00 pm at Palm Court Vinayagar Temple Hall in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

 

For this event, we need the help of at least 70 volunteers.

 

On 12 February, Saturday (from 8am to 9pm) we need at least 40 volunteers to:

1. Load the goods to the lorry at Ananda Marga Yoga Kuala Lumpur Centre (KL Jagriti).

2. Unload the goods at the temple in Brickfield KL.

3. Pack the goods into 500 separate packages.

4. Setup the Hall.

5. Decorate the Hall.

 

On 13 February, Sunday (from 8.30 am to 2pm) we need at least 70 volunteers to:

1. Control the crowd.

2. Usher the crowd.

3. Registration and coupon distribution.

3. Distribute the goods.

4. Manage AMURT's booth.

5. Help and Assist the Medical Camp.

6. Cleaning.

Appeal for Donations: Medical Camp & Distribution of Basic Goods to Sri Lankan Refugees 

 

AMURT/AMURTEL is organising a “Medical Camp and Distribution of Basic Goods” for 500 families of Sri Lankan refugees on 13^th February 2011.  These refugees, who had suffered horrific hardships in their home country, continue to face great difficulties here in Malaysia where they are not allowed to work. A small number of them are working illegally but in exploitative conditions and their children face difficulties in attending school.  There are an estimated 5000 Sri Lankan refugees including about 1000 children living mainly in Klang Valley. Although they all carry UNHCR Refugee card, no single organization or authorities are currently taking care of their basic needs on a regular basis. Therefore they continue to live in deplorable condition and undergo sleepless nights due to hunger.

 

We appeal to you and / or your company to help them by donating one or more of the items listed below:

• Rice
• Dhall (Lentils)
• Sugar
• Noodles
• Biscuits
• Milk Powder
• Cooking Oil
• Canned Food
• Milo/ Beverages
• Soap and other Grocery items
• New/Old Clothes including Shoes
• New /Old Toys
• Milk Powder for Babies
• Baby Food
• Educational Materials (Books and Stationeries)
• Cash

All these items will be presented to 500 Sri Lanka Families on 13^th February 2011, 10.00 am to 2.00 pm at Palm Court Vinayagar Temple Hall in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. Estimated cost for each pack is RM100.00.
