initial conditions for galaxy galaxy collision?

Hope everbody is still thinking about simulations. The September 1 deadline
is looming still nicely and far away on the horizon, but still....

But I have a question for those who did those beautiful galaxy galaxy
collisions..

I'd like to understand a bit more how you choose these initial conditions?
Did you choose cartesian on a parabolic and then tweeked the
cartesian? or choose some more astronomical set of parameters, such
as inclination, position angle at T=0, or something else alltogether?
