Hiho,

the upcoming SC meetup in Amsterdam will be on Tuesday October 16 (we've had
to move it one day earlier than originally planned), hosted at STEIM, from
7pm.

A more detailed announcement will follow closer to the date!

sincerely,
Marije

Shame, I'm going to miss this session then, I'm on holiday at that time.

Great to be able to look forward to more SC meetups to come though, enjoy this one!

Hiho,

This Tuesday!

Every month or so STEIM hosts the SuperCollider users group, a meeting place
to learn more about SuperCollider, the immensely powerful (and free) sound-
making software used by musicians, sound artists, and researchers around the
world. The users group is a place to share ideas, inspirations, improve your
existing knowledge, or just to meet like-minded audio artists in the area.
Through these user group meetings we hope to encourage an open and connected
community of artists using SuperCollider in the Netherlands.

Probably the main focus will be about what we've been up to over the Summer,
and what new finds and questions came out of that!

Let me know if you plan on coming, so I'll have a rough estimate of who to
expect.

As usual, there will be coffee, tea, a PA and a projector.

sincerely,
Marije

Hi all,

topics for this month's event:

Live-coding is always a great way to experience any audio programming
language. SuperCollider has a few useful tricks up its sleeve when it comes
to editing and substituting code while the audio is running!

I would also like to show some work in progress of a new instrument that I'm
developing for 'The Void Pointers Ensemble', using MIR and a piezo pickup.

Please feel free to bring along SuperCollider projects of your own. It's always
great to see what everybody has been up to! Let me know if you plan on coming,
so I'll have a rough estimate of who to expect.

As usual, there will be coffee, tea, a PA and a projector.
Thanks,

Tijs

Heyhey,

I had to miss a couple of sessions, so I'm happy that this time I can participate again. I have been playing around with a sampling/looping patch, but had some trouble implementing my original idea to determine the length of the loop by a trigger. I would certainly be happy for some pointers/nudges into the right direction!

Until tomorrow,
Berit

Hey all,

A topic:
I haven't been to a SC meeting before, and I'm also not very proficient in using SC.
But, I've made the SonOrb: a permenent interactive sound-installation in the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ for which others can develop new sounds and sound-engines. http://www.eude.nl/projects/sonorb/
I'd like to show the possibilities of the installation and would like some feedback if people in this group are interested in developing new sound-engines for it in SC.
Currently, the SonOrb contains only one collection of interactive sounds but more can be added and developed by third parties.

Just a bit of tech:
SC will run on four networked macminis.
SC will receive OSC controldata from the physical installation.
The raw controldata from the physical sensors is pre-interpretated and translated into easy understandable OSC data that describes the physical situation (like " the red ball is put on pedestal 6", "the yellow ball on pedestal 19 is rotated in this-and-this direction").
How these events are translated into sounds is detemined in SC (or some other software. I've used MaxMSP for the current sounds).
Each macmini has a stereo speaker setup.
The macminis and speakers are all integrated into the physical installation.

I hope this can be a nice opportunity for some of you. I build the installation specifically to work with realtime, interactive sound synthesis and for others to develop new sound synthesis engines for it.

Can this be one of this month's topics?

All my best,
Edo Paulus.
