Hey people,

You know http://shuffler.fm, right?
We are a small young startup that has offices on the hartje of
Amsterdam and we are trying to put a dent in the universe. hahaha Just
kidding.

But seriously, we are growing and looking for a frontend developer to
join the team.
I think what we do is pretty interesting not just technically but also
because we listen to awesome music the whole day, talk to music
bloggers from all around the world, go to music hack days
http://blog.shuffler.fm/post/20002430480/shuffler-fm-at-music-hack-day-amsterdam-last,
http://www.bright.nl/scoren-van-music-hack-day-amsterdam-40-hacks and
other fun stuff.

But hey, you are on this list for the codez, right?
So let me explain you on which metal shuffler runs.

So our app has 2 big parts:
One python backend that does all the web scrapping. It's a series of
beanstalk tubes and python workers that talk to many different APIs to
get the most information out of the non structured music blogs and the
music they post.
We scrape around 4000 blogs and we have medium term plans to scrape
20000 artists websites. So there is some scaling fun happening over
there.

The web frontend runs on Rails 3.2.2 and ruby 1.9.3p0. We love rails
but we are like shiny new stuff so we are switching the html rendering
from the server to the client. So on next release we'll be using
backbone.js, eco templates and moar and moar coffeescript.

We want someone that
* can code from wireframe to full app
* likes simple and semantically relevant html
* loves simple and smart scss,
* codes smart and small coffeescript
* can participate on the wireframing of new features with our
designer
* understands the basics of a rails/backbone.js/ember.js app and is
TOTALLY willing to learn more

You should listen to these people

And send an email to tim at shuffler.fm telling him how you can help
us deliver the best music to every earphone, boombox, tv, loudspeaker
and the prettiest visuals to every eye in the world.

Hey,

Just to inform you that this is the amsterdamrb usergroup and not the
amsterdam frontend usergroup.
Also I would like to ask everyone to stop using this message board as
a recruitment platform, this place is meant for developers to meet
other developers and not for employers or recruiters find developers
for your super cool company or project.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hey Danny,

Although we had some recruiters some while ago on this list, Marcel is not. User group lists can really help in finding the right people for your startup.

No to recruiters, yes to people looking for devs.

Cheers,
Timon

Hey,

I don't see anything wrong with Marcel's email either, it didn't sound like a soulless recruiter looking for whatever they might find (nothing against those guys but ii becomes tiresome after a while) in fact I found it to be quite informative. As Timon said if you are a developer looking for a next colleague you might want to ask in the places you frequent, such as group lists, meetups or conferences.

Just my 2 cents.
