FW: HSC 2010 Support - Urgent

Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Huntsville Simulation Conference is scheduled for 26 – 28 October 2010 (see: http://www.scs.org/hsc). This meeting will again be sponsored and administered by the Society for Modeling and Simulation International [SCS] and hosted and supported by the Alabama Modeling and Simulation council (AMSC)
Unfortunately, two circumstances may significantly influence the value of this year’s event:
1. Due to delays in general and administrative support from [SCS], preparation for the event in general and solicitation of input papers in particular are seriously behind schedule, and
2. Due to business obligations and the demands pursuant point 1. above, Joe Gauthier, longtime effective General Chairman for that event, will be unavailable to serve in that capacity this year.
Therefore, AMSC is soliciting from among its membership and from members of the Alabama community-of-practice candidates for a few critical leadership positions for the 2010 HSC Committees. These positions and their attendant duties are indicated in the enclosure, but include in particular:
· General Chair
· Program Committee Chair
· Exhibits Chair, and
· Classified Sessions Chair
Under the circumstances, SCS is prepared to simplify the event process and to relieve some normal expectations (e.g. accept briefings in lieu of technical papers). Nevertheless, we are anxious to establish a strong local event management team commensurate with our responsibilities as host organization.
Please circulate as widely as possible this request that:
Anyone interested in serving in HSC Committee leadership roles should contact any AMSC officer or ‘contact us’ via the AMSC Website at www.AMSC.to.
