Ladies and Gentlemen of AMSC:
Find enclosed the public statement as presented in Washington DC to the inaugural meeting on 6 August 2009 of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), on behalf of the Modeling and Simulation Community-of-Practice, recommending use of Modeling and Simulation in addressing the nation’s socio-economic challenges. This public comment was received courteously but without comment by the PCAST staff. Please circulate this statement within your organization and among your organizational colleagues, encouraging endorsements to members of the PCAST (list enclosed) who may be familiar, from any who can appropriately do so.
In addition, please find enclosed a follow-up letter to Dr. John Holdren, the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy to the President (OSTP), reinforcing the necessity of modeling and simulation to address the interrelation of critical science and technology areas. Again, I encourage your circulating this letter among your colleagues and provision of such endorsement as may be appropriate to Dr. Holdren or other members of the OSTP (list enclosed) who may be familiar to you.
Regards,
