to AMS Music and Philosophy Study Group
Dear all MPSG'ers,

A warm welcome from Chicago, as we have chance to come together for three(!) fantastic events Friday and Saturday.

First, our annual night panel will feature a wonderful collection of pedagogues (namely, Melinda Latour, Mike Gallope, Steve Smith, and Kirsten Carithers) in conversation regarding Teaching Music Philosophy. You can find us in Monroe [6th Floor] from 7:30-9:30pm on Friday.

Second, we will have an open business meeting in Price [5th Floor] from 12:30-2pm on Saturday. I highly encourage any and all parties to attend, as we are particularly keen to hear from you (as well as any friends who might be interested) regarding future plans and shape of the study group. We are particularly keen to learn about any upcoming projects or potential research areas you'd like us to help support.

Third, our dear Mike Gallope has kindly provided us an occasion for even more "music philosophy socializing" in the form of a launch party for his much anticipated The Musician as Philosopher: New York's Vernacular Avant-Garde, 1958–1978. You can join us at the Adamus Lounge, Silversmith Hotel from 5:30–7:00 on Saturday.

With all of that, I hope to have some occasion to chat with those of you here in person and in spirit, and welcome any and all questions/comments!

Kyle
