Thanks Ramesh.
Yes - I agree that Waste Management project would definitely helps.

All,
As we already noticed BBMP's inefficient approaches to resolve waste management issues - It's now challenge to the residents/volunteers/social groups - "How" to bring an efficient system to resolve this issue. The solution can be limited to a part of an area/ward - but - we should demonstrate a complete, scalable and reusable solution.

I wish, let's discuss the followings:
  • What are the key issues we are facing?
  • What are the possible solutions?
  • The role of residents in the over all solution
  • Cost estimation for successful implementation of the solution

If you have any other points/concerns - we shall discuss.

PS: You can still suggest if we can pickup ay other project - we shall discuss the feasibility.

Regards
Venu

Hi,

I have been trying following since last 15 days regarding wet waste may be this will guide us further. Please come out with more ideas
  1. Keep a bag / gunny bag full red/fertile soil at home
  2. Keep 3 or 4 bins for wet waste
  3. put a layer of soil at the bottom of the 1st bin
  4. put a days wet waste in the and top it up with thin layer of soil so that it doesn't smell
  5. Keep doing steps 3 and 4 till the bin becomes 3/4 full and top it up with layer of soil
  6. Keep the 1st bin aside
  7. Follow step 3 to step 6 with 2nd bin and so on
  8. Use them in pots or  try to explore if someone willing to pick the compost produced in such fashion by multiple residents, which she/he can pick one in a week/15 days.

For almost last 15 days I have been able to maintain without throwing wet waste. I don't know the future.

regards
