Hello Everyone,
This email is regarding the meeting we just had with Mr.Krishna Byre Gowda (KBG) on 24th Feb 2015 Tuesday morning around 930AM. Understand that the revised meeting invite came in from Venugopal at the last moment but needless to say we had very poor representation from the folks staying in around Muniswamappa layout. We were just about four people who made it to this meeting along with representatives of the Bhuvaneshwarinagar community (Devraj and co). While Devraj and his group focused on the issues specific to their locality they did give us an opportunity to represent ourselves and bring up our issues with Mr KBG on the issues highlighted above by Venu. To add to the letter that was already drafted by Venu and others who had helped put the letter together, we also took pictures of the surroundings specifically near the Raja Kalve, and the filth and trash thrown all over the place in all empty sites and at the junctions of the cross roads to highlight the apathy of the area we were living in. We highlighted the fact that we had very serious issues about a year and halg ago when heavy rains caused the sewerage in the Raja Kalve to overflow which in turn caused havoc and misery to every using this road on a daily basis. Life came to a stand still those few days when the main road near Swati provision stores was literally unusable for any form of commutation (walking, driving etc). We had a lot of mishaps with some senior citizens hurting themselves very badly and vehicles 2 and 4 wheelers getting stuck in the slush that was formed due to the consistent overflow from the Kalve. We also showed Mr KBG pictures of the Raja Kalve right up to the Amruthahalli lake and the soap bubbles rising out from the place where it got off the lake. Pictures of garbage strewn all over the place along the Raja Kalve and surrounding empty plots to show that garbage collection was not happening properly/regularly were also highlighted through these pictures. The UGD work which has been taken up in patches leaving out the cross roads parallel to the Aditya Spring, Iris Apartment & Aditya Green were also brought to Mr KBG's notice.
The result of this was that Mr.KBG asked us to meet with him and the BWSSB commissioner Mr.Anjum Pervez the same day at 2PM in Vikas Soudha. We also caught hold of a few BBMP officials while at Mr.KBG's house along with the Asst Engineer and showed them the places around the Kalve and Muniswamappa layout to have them assess the situation first hand after seeing all the pictures of the community that were taken.
Three of us made it to the meeting at Vikas Soudha later that afternoon along with Mr Devraj and his people representing Bhuvaneshwarinagar. Though there were many hurdles right from getting into the Vikas Soudha for the three of us who represented Muniswamappa layout as Mr Devraj and co were already in the meeting hall, before we could make it, we still were able to push our way through into Vikas Soudha making a few calls and our persistent efforts. The three of us joined Mr Devraj and group in the meeting hall where we were to have discussions with all of the BBMP and BWSSB officials along with Mr KBG and Mr Anjum.
After having waited for about 30 minutes we were told by the officials at Vikas Soudha that we would have to post pone our meeting with the BWSSB commissioner for some other day as something urgent had come up for him. All of us insisted that we would not leave the place until we met with the BWSSB commisioner and Mr KBG without addressing our concerns even if it were to be later in the night that day. With so many people putting a tremendous amount of pressure, the representative at Vikas SOudha had to give up and call back Mr Anjum to attend our meeting after he was done addressing the urgent issue that had some up.
After a wait of another 30 minutes and moving out to a bigger meeting hall to accommodate other people from surrounding areas like Nagwara, Coffee Board Layout, Telecom layout etc Mr.KBG, Anjum and all of the BBMP and BWSSB officials finally made it to the meeting. We then re-discussed every issue that we had and highlighted in the email below by Venugopal along with the pictures of our locality captured in an iPad were shown to the BWSSB commissioner and other officials. Mr KBG represented us very well and also stressed the fact that we as public had been extremely patient over the years and despite several meetings and letters written to him and his office not much work was really done.
He also did mention that he did not have any face to face the public despite giving assurances that things would be fixed one after the other. As usual the BBMP and BWSSB officials ended up blaming the contractors and so others for their lack of sincereity. Mr KBG had them stop the blaming game and resume their responsibility to start addressing our issues with seriousness.
We could sense the sincerity with which Mr KBG represented all of us and took the officials to verbal task. All of the officials agreed to help address our grievances one by one.
The priority was to get the cross roads at Muniwamappa layout asphalted after the UGD work was completed. We have also pressed them to resume and complete the UGD work in the cross roads at the earliest. Mr.Venugopal also got our memorandum signed by Mr KBG. Overall it was a great meeting but unless properly and regulary followed up with the officials our efforts could be considered a waste.
In this regard I would urge each one of you that we have more participation and weekly meetings to follow up on the tasks at hand. This requires us to volunteer whole heartedly and not just send and respond to emails alone, but also be on the ground as and when required. With more people coming in and complaining the pressure is going to be way too much for the BBMP and government officials to handle and this would make it easier for us to make our community better. We look forward to a more active group, participation and representation. With all our combined strength we can really shake the government officials and put them into immediate action. However this requires participation and diligent follow up. I request each one of you to spare at least 30 minutes every weekend to help us live in a better place. We can come to consensus on which day and time works for all.
Thanks for reading,
Vallish
