Meeting with Medicare

Agenda:

  • Cost effective Collection Process

Attendees: Reps from Balaji Mansion, Adithya Spring, Gayathri Mansion, SLS Symphony, Medicare

Background:

  1. BBMP restricted not to mix Sanitary Waste along with Dry and Wet Waste
  2. Bulk Generators supposed to do their own arrangements of disposing Sanitary waste
  3. Sub-contractors (Stree Shakti) stopped collecting Sanitary waste
  4. Medicare is the only agency covering our area for the collection of Sanitary wastes
  5. The existing cost of collection slabs (50 KGs, 100 KGs, 200 KGs) - doesn't fit for apartments with less than 50 flats.

Minutes:

  1. Medicare's existing cost slabs:
    1. Rs. 2000/- for 50 KGs per month
    2. Rs. 3000/- for 100 KGs per month
    3. Any higher weightage would cost on pro rata basis
  2. Concerns from Small Apartments with less than 50 Flats:
    1. There are many apartments with number of flats ranging 10 - 30.
    2. The existing Medicare cost slabs doesn't work for these apartments
    3. Currently, all such apartments are burning the Sanitary wastes unscientifically - as there are no other options.
  3. Medicare can offer combined billing with minimum cost slab for 100 KGs. Pro rata charges will be applied for any increased weight.
  4. A feasible Solution:
    1. 6 Apartments together can make an agreement with Medicare
      1. Adithya Spring: 28
      2. R R Towers: 20
      3. Balaji Mansion: 16
      4. Kubera Enclave 10
      5. Gayathri Mansion: 14
      6. Hrudaya Nivas: 12
    2. Sanitary Waste Collection will be from individual Apartments
    3. A separate note will be provided in each Apartment to keep note of weight of daily collection
    4. A single report will be provided from Medicare
    5. A single payment will be made from all 6 partments
    6. Cost distribution will be per flat basis.
    7. Agreement copy will be given to all 6 apartments - that helps during any cross verification by BBMP
  5. Medicare would prepare a contract agreement
  6. Any difficulties in making agreement for the above feasible solution would lead to another round of discussion
  7. Apartment Residents can work on following:
    1. Create Awareness on Sanitary Waste Disposal process
    2. Work out on Financial Contribution with reference to Agreement copy from Medicare
  8. On Agreement with Medicare, Apartment residents can prepare necessary arrangements for the collection of Sanitary wastes (Yellow & Blue color bags & Container)
  9. Agreement will be done with a registration fee of Rs. 1000/- (one time cost).

Action Items:

  1. Mr. Satya (from Medicare) would prepare  the Agreement
  2. Residents to work out on cost distribution and Awareness programs

Hi Venu,

Please consider following points
- The contract is for 5 years. You may consider making it annual contract which can be renewed.
- There is no exit clause
- No Compensation mentioned for the days on which waste is not picked up

- The waste should be given at one single point by the M/s. XXXXX Apartment at given time of M/s. Medicare Environmental Management Pvt. Ltd. Vehicle. Point(b)
- In case of non-receipt of payment on the agreed date from M/s. XXXXX Apartment, M/s. Medicare Environmental Management Pvt. Ltd will stop the collection of waste immediately with intimation to Karnataka State Pollution Control Board. The delayed payments will be collected with an interest of 18% per annum.

best wishes and regards
