ஒவ்வொரு மாதங்களிலும் குறிப்பிட்ட சில நாட்களே கரிநாட்கள் எனப்படுகிறது. கிழமை, திதி, கோள் (கிரகங்கள்), பட்சம் (வளர்பிறை தேய்பிறை) இவற்றின் அடிப்படையில் அமையால், நாட்களின் அடிப்படையில் மட்டுமே அமைந்துள்ளன.  அதாவது எல்லா ஆண்டுகளிலும் ஒரே தமிழ்த் தேதியில் இந்நாட்கள் கரிநாட்களாகவே வரும். What is "Kari Naal"? Why is it named so? What are the bad effects of "Kari Naal"?

THOUGH "Kari Naal" has been explained before, many readers raise this query. "Kari Naal" can be translated as Black, which means inauspicious day.
"Varshadhi Nool" declares certain dates every month in the Tamizh Calendar as "Kari Naal". These days may differ between Vakya Panchangam and Drik Panchangam based on the date of the Sun's entry into a Rasi, starting a new month.
Generally "Kari Naal" is not fit for travel. In one instance, the Muhurtha for a wedding was fixed on an auspicious Lagna and the selected day was also a "Kari Naal". The couple are living happily.    The hindu 2000

'Karinal' is nothing but 'masa thyajyam' and it means a portion which
is considered to be little bad to use for subhams.

But in practical it is considered that the combination of Thithi, Vaaram,
Nakshatram, Lagnam and Yogam is powerful than that of 'Karinal' and hence if the
other factors are good, this 'karinal' can be ignored.

It is not only for Brahmin but for everyone. But, here also by practical
brahmins have accepted the above explanation and mostly doing subhams on karinal
days, but non brahmins are still rejecting karinals.

கிழமை = குளிகை நேரம் :: பகல் பொழுதில் ஞாயிறு = 03.00 - 04.30 திங்கள் = 01.30 - 03.00 செவ்வாய் = 12.00 - 01.30 புதன் = 10.30 - 12.00 வியாழன் = 09.00 - 10.30 வெள்ளி = 07.30 - 09.00 சனி = 06.00 - 07.30

கிழமை = குளிகை நேரம் :: இரவுப் பொழுதில் ஞாயிறு = 09.00 - 10.30 திங்கள் = 07.30 - 09.00 செவ்வாய் = 06.00 - 07.30 புதன் = 03.00 - 04.30 வியாழன் = 01.30 - 03.00 வெள்ளி = 12.00 - 01.30 சனி = 10.30 - 12.00  ( ref panchankam)
