Sundara Kaanda - Sarga 59
In this Sarga, after narrating all that he had done since he left them till he came back to them, Hanumān asks the Vānaras whether it makes sense for them to take Seetā by themselves and present her to Rāma. He tells how confident that he himself is in killing Rāvaṇa and his forces, and how confident he is in the prowess, strength and power of the other Vānaras like Jāmbavan, Sugreeva, Panasa, Neela, Mainda and Dwivida. He tells them again about the pitiable condition of Seetā. He asks them to think about what is to be done next, given her situation.

Thus narrating all that had happened,
Hanumān, the son of Vāyu, went on again, to say more words, beyond what he had already said. |

Rāghava’s enterprise and Sugreeva’s urgency
have already borne fruit. And having seen for myself the virtues of Seetā, my mind is filled with devotion to her. |

Rāvaṇa, the lord of the Rākshasas,
is quite accomplished in every aspect. He can burn the worlds with the power of his Tapa and he can burn them even with his anger. |

It was only because of his Tapa
that his body was not destroyed even after touching her.
Not even the tongues of fire, when touched by hand,
would be as disastrous as the daughter of Janaka, when she is taken over by wrath. |

With all that I have relayed
to you have been what it is, does it not make sense – if Jāmbavan and all other great Vānara chiefs agree to it - to take Seetā along with us, before we see the two princes? |

I myself, with my sheer muscle, can singlehandedly
destroy the city of Laṅkā with all its Rākshasa hordes and also Rāvaṇa, of immense strength. |

when Veeras like you, strong, brave and resolute Vānaras who have mastered weapons and are eager for victory, all join! |

I can annihilate the Rākshasas,
by easily foiling the Astras of Brahma, Indra, Rudra, Vāyu, Varuṇa that none can even dare look at, if they are to be deployed by Indrajit! |

My prowess, with your permission,
can easily arrest him in his tracks. My matchless and incessant downpour of boulders can destroy even the Dēvas, what to say of the Night-Rovers? |

Vaidēhi, the good lady, giving no heed
to Rāvaṇa who is haughty because of his strength, sits at the foot of the Ṡiṃṡupa tree in the Aṡōka pleasance of the wicked Rāvaṇa, in a pitiable state surrounded by the Rākshasis, worn out by grief and suffering, lusterless like a digit of the moon overcast by patches of clouds. |

That daughter of Janaka, of lovely Kaṭee,
a chaste and devoted wife, is kept confined there.
That princess of Vidēha has every bit
of her pure love lodged in Rāma. She does not think about anything other than Rāma, like the daughter of Pulōma about Indra. |

I saw her in that women’s pleasance
in the midst of the Rākshasis who were threating her repeatedly. Her hair braided in a single plait, she was thinking only about her husband. She lay on the ground with her limbs lacking color and luster, like a lotus vine at the onset of winter. Resolute against Rāvaṇa’s pleadings, she was bent upon casting away her life. |

I could manage somehow
to make her confidence in me. She could understand the entire mission once I explained it to her. She was pleased to hear about the alliance between Rāma and Sugreeva. |

If the Ten-necked one who has committed such an offence
is not destroyed by her, a Mahātma, who adheres to the best of the customs (with the power of her Tapa), it is because of her supreme devotion to her husband; and Rāma will be merely an instrument in killing him. |

She, who is already slender by nature,
has become worn out by separation from him, like the studies of one who habitually devotes the dark fortnight for them. |
Tradition holds that venturing on to the study of a new subject or topic during the dark fortnight of the month (from full moon to new moon) would not be as fruitful as the study in the bright fortnight.

Given that such is the state of the blessed Seetā,
who is given completely to grief, let all that needs to be done now in response, be done. |

Thus concludes the fifty ninth Sarga
in Sundara Kāṇḍa of the glorious Rāmāyaṇa, the first ever poem of humankind, composed by Maharshi Vālmeeki. |

Sundara Kaanda - Sarga 60
In this Sarga, Aṅgada, agreeing with Hanumān, suggests that they should take Jānaki with them before going back to Rāma. But Jāmbavan disagrees saying that it is not in alignment with what Rāma intended.

There seems to be some Ṡlōkas missing in this Sarga, which should have been present between the Ṡlōkas 6 and 7. Jāmbavan’s response to Sugreeva, for example, is more detailed in the translation of N. Raghunathan, which is as follows:
When he thus declared his mind, the worthy Jambavan, who was experienced in worldly matters, objected
for a relevant reason, while affectionately applauding
his motive, ‘ What you say, O great ape, would not be
the right course to follow, immensely sagacious as you
are. We were ordered to search the great Southern
quarter; but neither the King of the apes nor the wise
Rama told us to bring Sita with us. Raghava, that
tiger among men, keeping in mind the dignity of his
own race, would hardly like the idea of Sita being
brought back by us somehow. Having vowed in the
presence of the ape chiefs that he would himself win
back Sita, how could that King go back on his word?
All that we have done would be so much labour wasted.
It would give him no satisfaction. All the prowess so
far displayed would prove of no account, great apes.
So we shall go to the place where Rama and Lakshmana
and Sugriva of the immense power are to be found and
acquaint them with what we have done. It is not, O
Prince, as if the course you have suggested is improper;
but we should seek to achieve our object in conformity
with Rama’s own ideas and wishes.’

Sundara Kaanda - Sarga 61
In this Sarga, the Vānaras take flight to go back to Rāma and Sugreeva, eager to give the good news and resolute on helping Rāma take revenge. On their way they come across the Madhuvana that was maintained and protected by Sugreeva, and was guarded by his maternal uncle Dadhimukha.
The Vānaras seek the permission of Aṅgada to drink the liquor in that Vana, which he grants after consulting senior Vānaras like Jāmbavan. Intoxicated after consuming the liquor, they have all the fun and frolic in the world pushing each other, jumping up and down and so on.
Seeing them destroy everything, Dadhimukha tries to stop them in every which way possible, yelling, hitting and reasoning with them. But intoxicated, they turn against him, drag him about and beat him almost to death. They empty the Vana completely.

Everyone was ready for a chance to fight. Everyone, in his mind, in all sincerity, was resolute on helping Rāma take revenge. |

That army of Vānaras raised a cacophony,
losing all sense of control in their frenzy of drinking the liquor. There was no one who was not intoxicated. There was no one who had enough of it. |

the veteran Vānara Veera of fierce valor, who was in-charge of the Vana, decided to save the Vana from those Vānaras. |

but, intoxicated, there was no stopping them. Giving up every sense of fear, they got together and turned against him. They even dragged him about, losing all sense of impropriety. |
