Sri Chamundeshwari Vardhanti Mahotsav 2026-  Divine Greetings

Chamundi Hills, Mysuru The sacred celebration that transforms Chamundi Hills into a sea of devotion returns this year, reaffirming centuries-old traditions, royal customs, and the blessings of Goddess Chamundeshwari.

Festival Significance

·         Celebrated as the ceremonial birthday of Goddess Chamundeshwari, Karnataka’s revered Nadadevi (State Goddess).

·         Rooted in the legend of Mahishasura Mardini, the slayer of the buffalo demon Mahishasura, whose story is intertwined with the very origin of Mysuru.

·         Observed under the patronage of the Mysuru royal family for generations, symbolizing the eternal bond between the Goddess and the Wadiyars.

Sacred Rituals

·         Begins before dawn with Mahanyasa, Panchamrutha Abhisheka, Rudrabhisheka, Kumkumarchane, and Sahasranamarchane.

·         The richly adorned Utsava Murti is taken in golden and silver palanquins amidst Vedic chants, temple music, and royal insignia.

Royal Tradition The Mysuru royal family continues the age-old custom of offering prayers and ceremonially pulling the golden palanquin, reaffirming their devotion to their family deity.

Devotees & Faith Thousands ascend Chamundi Hills during the spiritually significant Ashada month. The district administration ensures smooth darshan with shuttle services, security, and facilities for pilgrims.

Message: "Chamundeshwari Vardhanti is not just a festival — it is Mysuru’s heartbeat, where devotion, tradition, and heritage unite under the Mother’s grace."

Mantra for Chanting: "Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundaye Vichche"
