About the Temple & Location:
This is one of the divyadesam which is found in Ramanathapuram district, in Tamil Nadu. We can reach this sthalam while travelling along Keezhakarai. We can reach this sthalam by getting down in Manamadurai railway station and taking a bus to reach Thiruppullani. But there are not many lodging facilities available.
Sri Kalyana Jagannatha Perumal Temple Thiruppullani village is located in Ramanathapuram district, It is located 62.3 km. distance from Rameswaram island via NH87. The main tourist attraction in Thirupullani is Sri Adi Jagannatha Perumal Temple, popularly known as Thirupullani Temple.
This temple is mentioned in the Tamil classic devotional literature” Naalayira Dhivya Prabantham”, Thirumangai Azhwar sung a song on this place and the temple, and also Thiruppllai temple is referred in Valmiki Ramayana, Ramayana written by the great Tamil poet Kambar.
Sri Kalyana Jagannatha Perumal Temple is revered as one of the 108 Divya Desam temples of Lord Vishnu. Thiruppullani Sri Adi Jagannatha Perumal is also called as Sri Kalyana Jagannatha Perumal. It is believed that those who have difficulties or dhoshams regarding marriages and childbirth worship Jagannatha Perumal
Legend :- There are numerous mythical stories behind Sri Adi Jagannatha Perumal Temple. As indicated by one legend, Lord Rama while on his approach to Lanka to battle the demon king Ravana, who had abducted Goddess Sita and put her in exile in Sri Lanka, Lord Rama planned to rescue Devi Sitha from Ravana, so Rama decides to went to Sri Lanka with his army, when he reach Thiruppullani, near Rameshwaram he had asked for Lord Samudra Raja, the God of Ocean to enable a route through the sea to Lanka. It is said that Lord Rama had offered a penance by lying on the Kusa grass; The grass bed is known as Dharba Sayanam, In the Tamil language, the word Thiruppullani means that the bed made by grass Dharba sayanam is Sanskrit word means the same.
Afterward, Lord Samudraraja, subsequent to influencing the ocean to delicate and low, had requested that the Lord construct a scaffold to Lanka.
History of Thiruppullani Temple: - This Temple is believed to be constructed in 8th century CE Cholas, Pandyas, and Sethupathi Kings of Ramnad were given their devoted contribution to the construction of this beautiful temple.
Importance of Thiruppullani Temple- The Adi Jaganatha Perumal is everyday encouraged with Milk Payasam as the “Naivedhyam” in the night. It is said that every one of the explorers travels towards Rameswaram, need to venerate this Thiruppullani Aadhi Jagannathan. On the west side of the temple premises, there is a major Banyan is there and underneath that is discovered a bunches of Siva Lingam. It is said that individuals can get the pregnancy by praying the Siva Lingam underneath the tree.
The devotees who have difficulties in marriages also worship Thiruppullani Aadhi Jaganadha to get rid of the problems and difficulties.
Pooja Timings: The Thiruppulani temple is open from 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Devotees offer their offerings and perform puja to lord Adhi Jagannatha Perumal at Thiruppullani temple in these timings.
How to Reach Sri Adi Jagannatha Perumal Temple – Thiruppullani village is located in Ramanathapuram district, It is located 62.3 km. distan ce from Rameswaram island via NH87, and it is located 11.7 Km from Ramanathapuram.
Thiruppullani is located near Sethusamudram shore (Sethu Karai). Sri Ramar could not know how to cross the huge ocean and got the advice from Vibheeshana that they can cross the ocean only if all the water dries. He advised Sri Ramer that he can ask the Samudhara Raja to get dried and can make them the way towards Lanka. On getting the advice from Vibheeshana, Sri Ramar seeked the help of the Samudhara Rajan. After this, the Samudhara Rajan made the ocean to become quiet and asked Sri Ramar to build a bridge, so that they can travel through it to reach Lanka.
As advised by Varunan,
Nalan and all the other Monkeys (Vanara Senai) started to build a bridge and
this bridge is called as “Sethu Anai”, since this is constructed along the
Sethu Karai (Shore). And finally crossing through this bridge to Lanka, Sri
Ramar fought with Ravana and killed him and got out Sita Piratti.

கோவில் மற்றும் இடம் பற்றி:
இது தமிழ்நாட்டின் இராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்டத்தில் காணப்படும் திவ்யதேசங்களில் ஒன்றாகும். கீழக்கரை வழியாக பயணிக்கும் போது இந்த ஸ்தலத்தை அடையலாம். மானாமதுரை ரயில் நிலையத்தில் இறங்கி திருப்புல்லாணிக்கு பேருந்தில் சென்றால் இந்த ஸ்தலத்தை அடையலாம். ஆனால் தங்கும் வசதிகள் அதிகம் இல்லை.
ராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள ஸ்ரீ கல்யாண ஜகந்நாத பெருமாள் கோயில் திருப்புல்லாணி கிராமம் 62.3 கி.மீ. தூரம் ராமேஸ்வரம் தீவில் இருந்து NH87 வழியாக. திருப்புல்லாணியில் உள்ள முக்கிய சுற்றுலா அம்சம் திருப்புல்லாணி கோயில் என்று அழைக்கப்படும் ஸ்ரீ ஆதி ஜகந்நாதப் பெருமாள் கோயிலாகும்.
தமிழ் உன்னதமான பக்தி இலக்கியமான நாலாயிர திவ்ய பிரபந்தத்தில் இக்கோவில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது, திருமங்கை ஆழ்வார் இந்த இடத்தையும் கோயிலையும் ஒரு பாடலைப் பாடினார்.
ஸ்ரீ கல்யாண ஜகன்னாத பெருமாள் கோயில் விஷ்ணுவின் 108 திவ்ய தேச கோயில்களில் ஒன்றாகப் போற்றப்படுகிறது. திருப்புல்லாணி ஸ்ரீ ஆதி ஜகந்நாதப் பெருமாள் ஸ்ரீ கல்யாண ஜகந்நாதப் பெருமாள் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார். திருமணம், குழந்தைப் பேறு போன்ற பிரச்சனைகள் உள்ளவர்கள் ஜெகந்நாதப் பெருமாளை வழிபடுவதாக ஐதீகம்.
புராணக்கதை:- ஸ்ரீ ஆதி ஜகந்நாதப் பெருமாள் கோயிலுக்குப் பின்னால் ஏராளமான புராணக் கதைகள் உள்ளன. ஒரு புராணக்கதையின்படி, சீதா தேவியைக் கடத்திச் சென்று இலங்கையில் நாடுகடத்தப்பட்ட அசுர மன்னன் ராவணனுடன் போரிடுவதற்காக ஸ்ரீராமர் இலங்கையை நெருங்கும் போது, இராவணனிடமிருந்து சீதையை மீட்க ராமர் திட்டமிட்டார், எனவே ராமர் செல்ல முடிவு செய்தார். இராமேஸ்வரத்திற்கு அருகில் உள்ள திருப்புல்லாணிக்கு தனது படையுடன் இலங்கைக்கு சென்றபோது, கடல் வழியாக இலங்கைக்கு செல்லும் வழியை கடகடவுளான சமுத்திர ராஜாவிடம் கேட்டுக்கொண்டார். ராமர் குசா புல்லில் படுத்து தவம் செய்ததாக கூறப்படுகிறது; புல் படுக்கைக்கு தர்ப்ப சயனம் என்று பெயர், தமிழ் மொழியில் திருப்புல்லாணி என்றால் புல் தர்ப சயனம் என்பது சமஸ்கிருத வார்த்தையின் அர்த்தம்.
அதன்பின், சமுத்திரராஜப் பெருமான், சமுத்திரத்தை மென்மையாகவும், தாழ்வாகவும் மாற்றியதைத் தொடர்ந்து, இலங்கைக்கு ஒரு சாரக்கட்டு கட்டும்படி இறைவனிடம் வேண்டுகோள் விடுத்தார்.
திருப்புல்லாணி கோயிலின் வரலாறு: - இந்த கோயில் கிபி 8 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் கட்டப்பட்டதாக நம்பப்படுகிறது, சோழர்கள், பாண்டியர்கள் மற்றும் ராமநாட்டின் சேதுபதி மன்னர்கள் இந்த அழகிய கோயிலைக் கட்டுவதற்கு தங்கள் அர்ப்பணிப்புப் பங்களிப்பை வழங்கினர்.
திருப்புல்லாணி கோவிலின் முக்கியத்துவம்- ஆதி ஜகநாதப் பெருமாளுக்கு தினமும் இரவில் நைவேத்தியமாக பால் பாயசம் கொடுத்து உற்சாகப்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. ராமேஸ்வரம் நோக்கி பயணிக்கும் ஒவ்வொருவரும் இந்த திருப்புல்லாணி ஆதி ஜெகநாதனை வழிபட வேண்டும் என்பது ஐதீகம். கோயில் வளாகத்தின் மேற்குப் பகுதியில், ஒரு பெரிய பனியன் உள்ளது, அதன் அடியில் சிவலிங்கம் உள்ளது. மரத்தின் அடியில் உள்ள சிவலிங்கத்தை வழிபட்டால் கர்ப்பம் அடையலாம் என்பது ஐதீகம்.
திருமணத்தில் சிரமம் உள்ள பக்தர்களும் திருப்புல்லாணி ஆதி ஜெகநாதரை வழிபட்டு பிரச்சனைகள் விலகும்.
பூஜை நேரங்கள்: திருப்புலானி கோயில் காலை 7:00 முதல் மதியம் 12:30 வரையிலும், மாலை 3:30 முதல் இரவு 8:30 மணி வரையிலும் திறந்திருக்கும். இந்த வேளைகளில் திருப்புல்லாணி கோவிலில் உள்ள ஆதி ஜகந்நாதப் பெருமாளுக்கு பக்தர்கள் தங்கள் காணிக்கைகளை செலுத்தி பூஜை செய்கின்றனர்.
எப்படி செல்வது ஸ்ரீ ஆதி ஜகந்நாதப் பெருமாள் கோயில் - திருப்புல்லாணி கிராமம் ராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்டத்தில் 62.3 கிமீ தொலைவில் அமைந்துள்ளது. ராமேஸ்வரம் தீவில் இருந்து NH87 வழியாக தொலைவில் உள்ளது, மேலும் இது ராமநாதபுரத்தில் இருந்து 11.7 கிமீ தொலைவில் அமைந்துள்ளது.
திருப்புல்லாணி சேதுசமுத்திரம் (சேது கரை) அருகே அமைந்துள்ளது. பிரம்மாண்டமான சமுத்திரத்தைக் கடக்கத் தெரியாத ஸ்ரீராமர், விபீஷணனிடம், தண்ணீர் எல்லாம் வற்றினால்தான் கடலைக் கடக்க முடியும் என்ற அறிவுரையைப் பெற்றார். சமுத்திர ராஜாவை காய்ந்து போகச் சொல்லி, இலங்கையை நோக்கிச் செல்லும் வழியை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொடுக்கலாம் என்று ஸ்ரீ ராமருக்கு அறிவுரை கூறினார். விபீஷணனின் ஆலோசனையைப் பெற்ற ஸ்ரீ ராமர் சமுத்திர ராஜனின் உதவியை நாடினார். அதன் பிறகு சமுத்திர ராஜன் சமுத்திரத்தை அமைதியடையச் செய்து, ஸ்ரீராமரிடம் பாலம் ஒன்றைக் கட்டச் சொன்னார், அதன் மூலம் அவர்கள் இலங்கையை அடையலாம்.
வருணனின்
அறிவுரையின்படி, நளனும் மற்ற குரங்குகளும்
(வானர சேனை) ஒரு பாலம் கட்டத் தொடங்கினர், இந்த பாலம் சேது கரையில்
(கரை) கட்டப்பட்டதால், "சேது ஆனை" என்று
அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இறுதியாக இந்தப் பாலத்தின் வழியாக இலங்கைக்குச் சென்ற ஸ்ரீராமர், ராவணனுடன் போரிட்டு அவனைக் கொன்று சீதாபிராட்டியை
வெளியேற்றினார்.
