“*Expectation is what gives you disappointment*

You should adjust yourself and expect according to time and situation. This was very clearly clarified by mahaperiyava to a devotee who came to Kanchi mut with a distrubed mind after retirement..

A devotee used to come to the Math daily and on one particular day  stood in front of Mahaperiyava, silently without opening his mouth and his face was filled with worries.

Noticing this Mahaperiyava "Why your worried and what's the matter?" Asks Mahaperiyava.

"I am struggling a lot after retirement," Devotee says. "Why?" Periyava asks. "Nobody respects me at home. Even in the morning a cup of coffee is not available on time," he kept saying. "Looks like I should have died while on the job. I feel so since my children too doesn’t respect me leave my Office friends," concluded the old man.

Periyava was listening to his grievances with a smile and said quietly. "It doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Aren't you going to the office now?  So, Get up in the morning before everyone, take a bath and to Nithya Karma and Poojas. Seeing this automatically without your asking Your family will reverently bring you coffee. Volouterly do a little of the housework, teach your grandsons, health permits you to be active go out for shopping, vegetable purchase, Temple and take Kids to school.

As all agree that these are all very simple will and can be done and if done automatically you will be engaged and also respected by all

“*Expectation is what gives you disappointment* otherwise everything will happen by itself."

With this advice the one who came into agony knew his shortcoming and understood how he should behave now at home.

Mahaperiyava said *Keep your mind clear... keep thinking of Bhagavan* don’t dcrimicate on your wants the children you raise will surely take care of you" he said.

This is a mental disorder that comes to everyone in old age & one cannot enjoy everything, all the time one cannot have power and be. Life is about correcting ourselves over time.

As soon as Periyava had finished preaching, the son of Elderly person who came with grief and doubt came looking for him and took him home. Periyava, with a meaningful smile, sent him away with his son.

*Isn't this a great example of seeing everything with humanity* and advising devotees to their nitya karma, pooja and domestic duty as usual?
