Yogini Ekadashi Vrat – Benefits and Rituals:-
Ekadasi is called Hari Vasara, the day of Lord Hari. Yogini Ekadashi is famous in all three Loks. It falls on the 11th day of the Krishna Paksha of the Ashada month. It is also known as Ashadhi Ekadashi. By observing Yogini Ekadashi Vrat you can fulfil all our wishes and eliminate your sins. It helps us in achieving materialistic pleasures. Observing Yogini Ekadashi Vrat is considered equivalent to feeding 88 thousand Brahmins. It is a very auspicious and rewarding day.

Story for Yogini Ekadashi Vrat:-
Legend is about the King Kuvera and his Gardener Hem. King was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. He used to perform Shiva Puja every day. It was duty of his Gardener Hem, a Yaksha, to provide the flowers for daily Puja. Hem had a beautiful wife and he was highly attracted to her.
One day while spending time with his wife Hem forgot to provide the flowers for daily Shiva puja. King became angry on this and Hem was called to court. He was found guilty for forgetting his duty and indulging in sense fulfilment. Hem asked for mercy. But the angry King cursed him to be troubled with white leprosy. Hem soon got affected the disease.
He roamed in forests for several years and finally met Sage Markandeya. Sage advised him to observe Yogini Ekadashi Vrat which will help in liberating from curse. Hem followed instructions and observed Yogini Ekadashi Vrat with complete devotion. As a result he got back his form of Yaksha and was able to reunite with his wife. Therefore, all devotees who perform this Vrat get freed from their sins and achieve.
Rituals for Yogini Ekadashi Vrat
The rituals and customs for Yogini Ekadashi Vrat are same as that of other Ekadashi fasts. Like other Ekadashis, the vrat begins on the night of Dashmi and is completed on the morning of Dwadashi. If you observe Yogini Ekadashi Vrat you should
Wake up early and take a bath
Worship the Peepal tree on this day Use a paste of mud or Til (sesame) to clean the body yourself while bathing
Performed Jagran (overnight vigil)
Donate to a priest or needy. This will please Lord Vishnu
Besides observing you can chant mantra, read scripture, prayer, and other perform other services to the Lord.
At times Ekadashi fasting is suggested on two consecutive days. It is advised that Smartha with family should observe fasting on first day only. The alternate Ekadashi fasting, which is the second one, is suggested for Sanyasis, widows and for those who want Moksha. When alternate Ekadashi fasting is suggested for Smartha it coincides with Vaishnava Ekadashi fasting day.
Ekadashi fasting on both days is suggested for staunch devotees who seek for love and affection of Lord Vishnu.
