Mahalaya tharpanam

Mahalya tarpon mantras that were attached to different mails were only for 15 days. It should be done for 16 days with my understanding.   That is on 16th Oct also

On the Mahalaya Ammavasya day I am told we have to do two tharpanams.  I need clarifications. Should that be one one after another or perform one, have snanam and do the other.  ( Amavasya tharpanam later).

Dear Sri.Sunadararajan,

For those who are doing Pakshiya Mahalayam (all days),it starts with prathamai and ends with prathamai.This year it started on 28/09/2015 and ends on 13/10/2015.
Those who are doing pakshiya mahalayam only has to do two tharpanams on Ammavasai.One for Mahalayapaksham and one for Ammavasai.(12/10/2015).

Those who are doing Sahruth Mahalayam (only one day mahalayapaksham),they need to do only one tharpanam for Ammavasai.

Please note that there is no tharpanam on 16/10/2015 as asked,since mahalayam ends on 13/10/2015.

yes even my understanding is we have to do 16 tarpanams - prathamai to prathamai

hearing about 2 tarpanams on Mahaalaya amavasai.. only now.

can any periyava in this group clarify?

Tharpanam should be done one after the other only.

First snanam followed by Nithyakarma anushtanam like Prada Sandya
vandanam,Mathyanikam.

Again snanam followed by Ammavasai tharpanam and Mahalayapatcha tharpanam.

If possible you can have one more snanam in between two tharpanams.

It should be done for 16 days. And on amavasya day two to be performed. No need to take bath again.
