Awake in devotion, arise in light – Celebrate the Cosmic Union of Shiva and Shakti!
Mahashivratri, the Great Night of Shiva, is one of the most sacred Hindu festivals, celebrated with immense devotion across all Shiva temples in India. It marks the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati – the merging of masculine and feminine energies.
This year, Mahashivratri falls on February 15, 2026 (Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha, Phalguna month).
Tithi Begins: Feb 15 – 05:04 PM
Tithi Ends: Feb 16 – 05:34 PM
Four Prahar Puja Timings:
1st: Feb 15 – 06:11 PM to 09:23 PM
2nd: Feb 15 – 09:23 PM to Feb 16 – 12:35 AM
3rd: Feb 16 – 12:35 AM to 03:47 AM

On this sacred night, devotees observe fast, perform abhishekam to the Shivalingam, and chant powerful mantras to invoke Lord Shiva’s blessings.
✨ Mantras & Their Significance
1. Om Namah Shivaya
Meaning: “I bow to Lord Shiva.”
Significance: This Panchakshari mantra purifies the mind, removes ego, and connects the devotee with the supreme consciousness.
2. Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra
Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat
Meaning: “We worship the three-eyed Lord Shiva, who nourishes all beings. May He liberate us from the bondage of death and grant us immortality.”
Significance: Known as the conqueror of death, this mantra bestows health, longevity, and spiritual liberation.
Spiritual Essence:
Mahashivratri symbolizes the victory of light over ignorance, self-realization, and inner stillness. Staying awake in devotion throughout the night represents awakening the soul to higher consciousness.
On this sacred night, devotees are encouraged to:
Observe fasting with purity of mind and body.
Stay awake in vigil (jagaran) chanting mantras and meditation.
Perform abhishekam with water, milk, honey, and sacred offerings.
Chant “Om Namah Shivaya” and “Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra” for health, peace, and liberation.
🌺 May Lord Shiva bless all with wisdom, health, and liberation on this sacred Mahashivratri! 🌺
