Hello,

My friend will be applying for MBA admissions for 2015 fall(US universities). His undergraduate mark is 78% where the college first score is 81%. When we try to convert the score into GPA, we are getting less GPA.

Can you please suggest good ways of converting marks to GPA. Also, I hope we can mention in the profile about the range of scores in the particular  university. It would tell the admission department that the marks are very good compared to the particular university standards. Please confirm our understanding.

Thanks,
Madhu

Hello,

One way we do is to divide it by 10, and tell them that's what you did. If there is any method proposed by that university for conversion, you should use that. You can also do a percentile calculation and present the same on a scale of 10, i.e., 78/81 x 10 and mention the same.

Raghavendran

The General Rule for GPA conversions is:
  1. Use the guidelines for the university you are applying to
  2. If no guidelines, do a direct mathematical conversion (percentile based, as Ragha mentioned above).
