are to articles in nature news. They discuss the poor state, in
general, of scientific software. And the need to make scientific
software available for other scientist to assess the accuracy of
published results based on numerical simulations.

This and related issues are what motivated James to develop the amrita
system as a prototype for how the scientific community can do better.
