July 12, 2015 – This is a final installment of updates on the efforts to relocate the New York Sectorial Office of Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha in New York City. The Office Secretary (Dadaji) completed the move. The Sectorial Office has shifted to its new location!
The new site of the office is: 149-02 Melbourne Avenue, Flushing, New York 11367 USA. We are excited to announce the conclusion of the relocation efforts.
Since May of last year, when Sectorial authorities gained approval from Central office of the plan to make the change, a concentrated undertaking began - to improve the Corona property, find a buyer and sell it. The Corona property sold recently, on May 15th. The new property had been located earlier but the purchase was delayed due to complications with the seller.
As soon as the seller was cleared by their banks, the settlement occurred and the purchase finalized on Wednesday July 8th. The mammoth move-in operation was completed in the following days. The major tasks of settling in and putting the facility into proper order are now underway.
The new location is a single two-story house, of wood and brick construction. It has five bedrooms/offices, four full baths, a large yard in the rear, and a small garden in the front. Two large meeting rooms are there, one which will be dedicated as a hall for Dharmacakra, and group instruction, a guest room, and a Baba Room. A modern kitchen, a kitchenette, and, dining and lounge areas ensure the delivery of basic needs and comfort for dwellers as well as guests.
The facility is located on the southern perimeter of the sizeable education complex of the prestigious Queens College, a senior college of The City University of New York. The campus has a number of additional educational institutions, including two high schools. The site is convenient to the NY international airports, to public transportation, to a number of Interstate highways, to a shopping area, and parking is available on-street and in two off-street spaces. Single family homes and cooperative housing complexes are abundant in the area.
The size of the building is about two-thirds of the former property in Corona. It is energy efficient with distinct heating zones, and updated windows.
Weekly Dharmacakra will resume in August on Sundays at 6pm, and Akhanda Kiirtan will take place on the first Sunday each month, 11 AM – 2 PM.
The Open House and House Blessing will occur on the 4th of October, early morning. We will issue invites and reminders closer to that date.
