O Lord,
I was created due to Your love
and I am full of Your songs.

Your memory lingers on unfaded even today
and agitates the core of my mind.

Your smile makes me restless,
Your flute enchants me,
Your melody full of love
and that call of Yours make me lose myself.

Your love oscillates my mind,
Your song makes one forget oneself,
Your effulgence awakens my consciouness
and fills the whole world with illumination.

New Zealand Earthquake Relief

An appeal for earthquake victims of Christchurch in New Zealand and floods in Australia.

You must have known by now that a severe earthquake has hit Christchurch in New Zealand and as per official report confirms 65 people dead (with numbers rising) and hundreds have been wounded and many are under debris.

Efforts are being made to help the victims by different NGOs. Also floods in Australia have created a pitiable condition to hundreds of helpless people. Seeing this disaster, it is our duty and responsibility to rush to the affected areas with our rescue team with relief materials and medical supplies to provide succour to the quake and flood victims of New Zealand and Australia without further delay.

I make this appeal to extend all your possible support to SS Suva to serve the victims in better way. We on behalf of the AMURT and AMURTEL send our condolence messages to the bereaved families who have lost their lives in these disasters.

With my best wishes to all of you. Waiting for your unhesitant reply.

Always At HIS Lotus Feet,

Ac. Ramananda Avadhuta

Baba Story

When Baba was an infant He often developed a fever and parents would bring him to the doctor for a checkup.  The doctor could not find anything abnormal.  When this condition repeated many times, the doctor started investigating the family situation and found that whenever they cooked any non vegetarian food, Baba developed a fever. The doctor advised the family to stop making non-vegetarian food for the sake of the infant's health as He appeared to be allergic to it. This continued for a long time and the whole family remained vegetarian until Baba went to primary school.

Early one morning Baba's father asked His mother to prepare a famous seafood dish because his friend was in town and he wanted to invite him for lunch. Baba overheard the conversation and protested that no non vegetarian food should be cooked in the house.  His father insisted that for many years they had not cooked any non-vegetarian food for His sake but now with a good friend in town, he wished to invite him for a good non-vegetarian meal. Baba protested to no avail and he left for school.

It was summertime and school opened in the morning and closed by midday. Hours after the school had closed, Baba had not returned and everyone became anxious.  Then a tribal man came running to inform Baba's parents that they found little Baba in the forest surrounded by two tigers. Three of them rushed to the area, keeping a safe distance away, and the tribal man showed where Baba was sleeping between two sleeping tigers.  They didn’t know what to do.  They decided not to disturb Baba or the tigers might harm Him.  Usually tigers don't attack if someone is not moving.  Baba's father and friend rushed to the Police station to report the case to them but they simply could not accept the story. Hopeless, they went home to get two guns and returned back to the same spot thinking they would kill both tigers at the same time and rescue Baba.

But when they returned, Baba and the tigers were missing.  Now they didn't know what to do next.  They were certain that the tigers had already killed Baba and returned to the forest.  Both of them started lamenting.  But still they went deeper into the forest looking for Baba.  Hours passed with no sign of Baba and they decided to return home.

While returning home they were looking around and suddenly Baba's father noticed a tiger on the mountain ridge and Baba was riding the tiger.  But then, as they watched, the tiger started going down the other side of the mountain, carrying Baba on its back.  On the other side of the mountain there is a valley which had a very dense forest.  It was impossible to pursue him through that forest, so they brought the matter to the police station.  Again, the police officers refused to believe the story and did not offer any Help.

By that time it was 6 pm and no one in the house had eaten all day and Baba's mother had been crying. She knew that her son was lost because of the break in the family tradition they had followed since Baba's childhood. She was so upset, she threw all the food out; no one had eaten anything all day.

Baba's father's friend left to return to his home and the family started wailing and crying for the loss of Baba. Late in the evening Baba's father mentally surrendered to his son for not having listened to Him. To console himself further, he decided to go into Baba's room.  As he opened the door, to his dismay he found Baba was lying on His bed sound asleep.  He quickly went to his wife and daughter and they all came and saw Baba sleeping soundly on His bed.  They were so surprised they had found him there and totally unharmed.  They all folded their hands before Baba in silence and promised never to disobey His wishes and prayed for Him to please never create such a situation for them.  It was a great realization for Baba's father and this was how Baba paid back His paternal debt by giving His father the realization of His true self.

Litigation Update

TWO COLORADO CASE PLAINTIFFS RESTRAINED BY PURULIA COURT

Recently two of the Plaintiffs in the Colorado legal case, issued numerous emails promoting a March meeting in India, where a pre-selected candidate for Purodha Pramukha of Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha would, allegedly, be elected. Margiis in the Sector were invited to go to India by these individuals to participate in the meeting.

After those announcements, the General Secretary of AMPS, Ac. Dhruvananda Avt., gave written notice that such a meeting was not legal and that any attempt to recognize leaders of AMPS outside of the conventions provided in Caryacarya would not be valid.

Then, on March 18th, the Purulia Court in West Bengal, India issued an injunction against the two Colorado case Plaintiffs mentioned above, one of their declared key witnesses, and thirteen others as the planners of the March so-called Purodha Pramukha elections. The injunction prevents them from taking any decision regarding the election of any one as the head of AMPS. So, please inform anyone you know plaining to go to India for the meeting --- that the court has muted its potential for any outcome, therefore it would be a waste of time and money to travel to it.

What is interesting is that the Indian court has tied the two Colorado Plaintiffs and the one Plaintiff witness to the legal war on AMPS in India. The recent communications from the two Plaintiff parties broadcasting their leadership in and involvement in the March event have made it clearer that their efforts to jeopardize the New York Sector of AMPS, and Ananda Marga Inc is, in fact, a proxy battle in the larger war against AMPS Central authority and its leadership.

Margiis in New York Sector are advised to see through the chaos and confusion created by the Plaintiff parties in the Colorado case, and by those in India and worldwide who have separated themselves from the AMPS organization by their own illegal and direct actions. It is unfortunate that they call for unity after removing themselves through their divisive behavior. Unity is possible by rejoining those Margiis and WTs already unified in the legacy structure, order and disciplines of AMPS as defined by Caryarcarya from our Reverend Ba'ba'.

We appeal to all to keep it simple and seek unity in the manner Ba'ba' spelled out. Cooperation respecting His systems will save time, money, resources and more. Fighting frivolous claims in the case in Colorado and in dozens of cases in India and elsewhere to the bitter end will serve only to burn loads of money and other assets, and divert everyone's attention from the primary focus of the mission.

A day of service before Maha Shiva Ratri, the Night of the Great Shiva.

From Community Service

It is a day before Maha Shiva Ratri. Dada Jiivapremananda visited a Buddhist-Jain temple in Sunnvale, meeting all the teachers. Jessica coordinated a children's program and over 100 attended. Dada Jiiva inspired all.

Dada Jiiva also visited the National Guard Armory in Sunnyvale and met with the directer, sister Kelcy. They discussed organizing a joint service project for serving the homeless community. Dada Jiiva inquired of Kelcy as to what inspired her to do the work she is doing. Kelcy told the compelling story of how she was once, herself, homeless and that all people deserved a second chance in life. Although initially volunteering for one day in 1999, she's been here ever since.

Dada gave counseling to all. Jessica was trying to consol a crying infant of a homeless mother. We began singing Baba Nam Kevalam. All of a sudden the baby was quiet, looking around in utter awe and innocence.

We also visited Sanatana Dharma Kendra and talked to Pandit Shashidhara Somayaji. He invited us to the Sai Baba Temple in Sunnyvale (as well).

So that was our day of successful community outreach and social service in Bhuddist-Jain, Sanatana Dharma & National Guard Armory.

Dallas, Texas

Recently, Ac. Shubhacetanananda Avt., CSPU & Ac. Advayananda Avt., FSPU, were invited to the PROUT Journal intern Rajan Koirala's wedding reception in Irving, Texas. The wedding was held in traditional Nepali style, where 400+ guests were present. They made many contacts with professionals and their families and friends from the Nepali community, and introduced NeoHumanism and PROUT, especially to the youths present (see photos attached).

From Dallas

Acarya Rudraprakashananda Avadhuta, RU & RAWA Secretary played Tabla with Prabhata Samgiita "I love This Tiny Green Island," sang by Acarya Shubhacetanananda Avadhuta at Richland College. Dadaji taught yoga class to the students, faculty and staff. Dadaji also played Tabla in Dharmacakra.

Mayborn School of Journalism of University of North Texas invited Acarya Shubhacetanananda Avadhuta on Friday for the V.I.P. breakfast meeting with Soledad O'Brien, a CNN anchor. He met with the University president, Dean, department chair, journalism professors and students. Dallas Fort Worth area media were also present there.

Alumni Association of University of Texas at Arlington invited CSPU in the evening on Friday where Dadaji met with professors, Vice President of Student Affairs and students. He met with his initiate brother who introduced Dadaji as a yoga teacher.

Dada Advayanandaji has been busy with his yoga classes and has been initiating many students and faculty. The Dallas office is under renovation. Kitchen, Bathroom and Jagrti will be repaired soon. SFS and CSPU met with UNT Counselor who offered Dadas to teach his mindfulness meditation class. Dadaji met with several students who want to join the yoga classes.

Montreal, Canada

A spiritual retreat was held from February 25 evening to February 27 afternoon. It took place in brother Ramakrsna's house in Longueuil. Thirteen people attended including three acaryas, (SS Dada Vimalanandaji, Didi Ananda Rupadharaji and Dada Dayashiilanandaji.) All enjoyed the blissful vibrations  created by the 48 hour collective program which included an abundance of kiirtan, collective sadhana, very inspiring classes given by Dada Vimalanandaji. Dadaji covered three topics viz. Subjective Approach through Objective Adjustment, Microvita, Prout as the ideology for the new era for the contemplative human being. All attendees, whether senior Margii or novice, got a chance to improve their understanding of the ideology.

In The month of January Didi Ananda Rupadharaji went to Toronto and gave 3 vegetarian cooking classes. Many sisters participated in these cooking classes and were very happy to learn how to cook Indian Style vegetarian food. They also learned how vegetarian food is important for health. Didiji also organised a vegetarian dinner in Toronto where 11 people came for dinner.

Once a month Didiji goes to one of the retired homes in Montreal. There is a Margii Sister there whose name is Jiivakala, and Didi Ananda Rupadharaji goes there with the help of Sister Jayanti to sing baba nam kevalam kiirtan to all the senior citizens who are living there. Everyone there all joins in singing kiirtan with them.

Recently Didiji has started to give a weekly yoga class in one of the women's centres of the Ottawa , Many sisters are coming every week to practice yoga.

Vancouver, Canada

From Ac. Divyalokeshananda Avt.: In Vancouver regular Dharma Chakra started again three weeks ago after a longer period of pause. Twelve brothers and sisters gathered last Saturday. Already more are expected for our next DC as more contacts have been made with old and new in the meanwhile. This part of the world is a great attraction for so many people from all corners of the globe. This is being reflected in the spiritual community. There are margiis from Canada, Kerala India, Fiji, Taiwan, Philippines and Nepal. Arati from Nepal is by the way the granddaughter of the first margi ever of Kathmandu/Nepal respected brother Durgaman.

Brother Yoga'tma, to whom Baba showed so much attention when He visited Taiwan in 1979 and who lives in Vancouver now has come forward to offer the venue for a weekly study circle. There is a Teahouse in a centrally located area which hosts many progressive and spiritually oriented activities from different organizations has opened the door for Ananda Marga to give classes there which are now in the process of being organized.

Guatemala

Everything is proceeding well in Guatemala City. The jagrti is now in better condition with the addition of plants, paint and few repairs. Ac. Vimaleshananda Avt. gave another conference and one new Margi gave a guitar as a gift. The Margiis are getting warmed up to Dadaji and they are starting to bring him along to do pracar. Dada Ragatmanandaji is still close by in the Panahachel area, doing many initiations and playing music.

Here is a song written by Dada Vimaleshanandaji after receiving the new guitar:

"Take me with You"

I know the way that brings to the stars
I know the path that brings to the Divine

Why - Why - Why

I am free of me

Baba Nam Kevalam Baba Nam Kevalam

I know the door that opens your heart
I know the love at the bottom of the sea

Why - Why - Why

I am one with You

Baba Nam Kevalam Baba Nam Kevalam

I know the peace and I fly in the wind
I know the light that lives in the present

Why - Why - Why

I am lost in You

Baba Nam Kevalam Baba Nam Kevalam

The margiis are very warm here in Guatemala and they respond well when given an opportunity to get closer to Baba and His mission. Today I initiated another brother who is the son of Lucky (who came to Ananda Marga few years back when she saw a pratik in her dream.) From today all her sons are initiated, (two by me and one by Dada Rainjitananda. She guides a few different spiritual groups in Guatemala City and she invited me to participate to two of them.

On March 2nd, with the presence and help of Yuktatman a conference on neo-humanism was offered in the Instituto Naturista de Guatemala. It was well attended with around 20 participants who shared the universal love through the Baba Nam Kevalam chanting. It was also an opportunity to promote vegetarianism in an institute made up of different parts of society. The Institute is just in front of a major Mayan site where ceremonies are held regularly. Ananda Marga is in the process to realize a bigger event with the help of the Naturist Institute and other organizations. Today there is a conference in the university on the theme of Motivation and Meditation to be held in the psychology department.

Miguel is from San Marcos in Guatemala. He came to the capital looking for work on some land near our place in Colinas de Minerva. He noticed the new sign describing the Ananda Marga service project for food and clothes distribution. He was at first shy to tell his story and to ask for some cloths for his children. He has three kids of one, four and six years old. He has barely enough to feed them and he was looking to get some construction materials for making improvements at his residence. This was the first family we were able to help per the sign and the margiis were grateful for the service opportunity. Miguel took some cloths and also an extra vat of fresh peanut butter creme just made with the help of Donna Maria who has a hand mill. This morning Salvador brought two big bundles of cloths for donation. Dr. Vijay received a donation of 30 sheet rock panes to be used upstairs in the jagrti (below the roof).

News from India

Jamalpur DMS

DMS was held in Jamalpur on March 26-27, 2011. Around 6,000 Margiis attended including more than 50 devotees from outside India. This was the first time such an event was ever held by Ananda Marga in Jamalpur. Although we had a very difficult situation created by the government district administration, this was resolved by Baba's grace at the very last moment with the direct intervention of the district magistrate himself.

The DMS was held on ground adjacent to the famous tiger's grave with Baba's legendary places on the hills in the background. The atmosphere was spiritually charged and vibrated. Every Margii, new or old, young or aged, women and children enjoyed vibrations of Baba's sublime physical presence. They danced through the streets in a procession miles long singing melodious kiirtan full of devotion.

The whole city of Jamalpur respectfully accepted the blissful presence of Ananda Marga in their town and offered their fullest cooperation. The news media covered every activity which included a public address by senior acaryas of Ananda Marga. As an indication of Baba's physical intervention, the climate suddenly changed bringing very cool and soothing weather which would have otherwise been scorching hot. It even rained after the DMS.

Anandanagar

Dadhici Divas was observed on March 5 in Anandanagar.

From Dadhici Divas

"When Christians die for christendom, they are called Martyrs. When Muslims die for Islam they are called Shahiids. When my children sacrifice their life for the ideals of Bhagavat Dharma, I call them Dadhicis." Baba, March 5, 1967
