Dear AMPL folks,

   In my current development model, when I issue the "reset options;" command, amplide's Console prompt ("ample:") disappears.  One way to make it return is to quit and re-start amplide.  I presume that this is a bug, but it's sufficiently minor that I'm just ignoring it and moving on.

   If I were a really fine fellow, I'd winnow my model down to the smallest instance that reliably exhibits this bad behavior before submitting a proper bug report...but instead I'm inclined to just to mention the problem here and ask if others have also encountered it.  Perhaps it's even expected/desired behavior.  (I'm a newbie.)

   But, if it's a bug, I'm happy to submit my model to your team, who can probably isolate the problem much more quickly than I can anyway.

   Best regards,

Tom Kreutz

P.S.  Although I like amplide and use it constantly, it seems rather beta and fragile.  I have to re-boot it pretty often for one weird reason or another.  Sigh...

I could easily reproduce this error, and I have reported it so that it can be fixed in a future IDE release. The trouble is that AMPL's prompt1 option is reset from "ampl: " to "" when "reset options;" is invoked; it can be fixed with the command

option prompt1 "ampl: ";

though of course this is not something you want to have to type repeatedly.

 I'm glad to hear that the error was easily replicated.  Many thanks for the workaround.
