Importing and export data/results from/to excel to AMPL/ AMPL to excel

Can you please guide me with the steps on how to import data from excel to AMPL and export the results form AMPL to excel?

You should use the new AMPL interface for spreadsheets. Full instructions and examples are given on the AMPL Direct Spreadsheet Interface page.

There is also an introduction to the AMPL statements that are used for importing and exporting data, in Chapter 10 of the AMPL book. (The chapter is titled Database Access but the same statements -- table, read table, write table -- are used with spreadsheet files.)
