Hi all

I hope so far you have nice 2020 and thanks for supporting Human Rights.

We are very close to our 2020 meeting on 12 February 6.00 pm at MFO. You will get detailed email before it.

There is a email from Brisbane office about 26 Invasion Day March to invitation for a observer behalf Amnesty if you interested to join us details at below.

Kind Regards Halil

Thank you for your commitment to human rights in Brisbane, and for being an important part of the Amnesty community!

I’d like to take the opportunity to introduce myself, and to invite you to become a Human Rights Observer alongside me and my colleague Nikita, to help protect the right to peaceful protest on Sunday 26 January.

As you know, protests have achieved many human rights wins throughout history. From civil rights to marriage equality, we owe many of the rights that we enjoy today to the courage of those who have gone before us.

But because protest challenges those in power, our right to protest is often threatened. And with record numbers of people rallying around Australia for action on human rights and climate change, we need to ensure that our right to protest is protected.

You’re invited to be a Human Rights Observer at the Brisbane Invasion Day March and Rally, to keep an eye on interactions between police and protestors. By being present, you can help ensure that people are safe, and that their voices on this important issue are heard.

If you would like to become a Human Rights Observer with me and my colleague Nikita, please register here, and save these dates in your calendar:

  1. Training: Saturday 25 January from 10am to 12.30pm at Amnesty Brisbane Action Centre, Suite 1/41 Robertson St, Fortitude Valley
  2. Human Rights Observing: Sunday 26 January from 9am to 2pm at Queens Gardens, Brisbane for the Brisbane Invasion Day March and Rally

You don’t need any previous experience to be a Human Rights Observer - just a passion for human rights and the desire to protect the right to protest. We’ll give you everything you need at the training day!

If you have any questions please let me know, otherwise I look forward to being in touch again soon.

Best wishes,

Sarah
