Gold Coast Amnesty International Group Present

 The Forgotten Palestine 

 At 5:30 pm on Saturday 12th April

In the Multicultural Families Organization office 79B Scarborough St. Southport. 

Free entry event.

 Featuring Helen O'Sullivan, a Gold Coast Grandmother and social worker. 

While watching a news article about the conflict in Gaza, 

she realized that the whole world was witnessing genocide every day 

and although many young people across the world protested,

Governments, including our own, seemed indifferent. 

Helen felt that she needed to do something proactive. 

She joined the Freedom Flotilla in April 2024 to help deliver aid to Gaza. 

After traveling to Turkey to join the mission the flotilla was blocked twice. 

Unwilling to give up on her commitment to do something, 

while there, she joined the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) and went into the

West Bank as part of a program as a “Protective Presence” which aims to give assistance to the  

Palestinian people by being an international presence in situations where 

Palestinians are at risk from harm. 

Helen will be discussing her experiences in Turkey and the West Bank, 

showing photos and videos from her time there. 

She also has a wealth of stories about the people 

she met - their resilience and the struggle they have in a land 

where they are discriminated against, 

despite having lived there thousands of years. 

 On the night Tea and coffee will be available along with a light supper.

 We hope to finish by 8 pm.
