NYC AIUSA Area Meeting - Oct 12th

Salam guys!

I remember I told a few of you about this, but on Saturday, October 12th there's going to be a NYC AIUSA Area Meeting at the Amnesty Office in 5 Penn Plaza, from 10AM to 3PM!

UP TO 2 REPRESENTATIVES FROM EVERY STUDENT GROUP ARE ASKED TO GO! I know I'm going because I've been talking to Julie Southwell (NY/NJ Field Organizer) over the summer about this, but she said someone else should come, too!

Important parts of the email they sent about this: 

. "Meeting will be hosted by your NYC area Amnesty leadership including the Field Organizer, Julie Southwell, Area Coordinator, Todd Schwarz, and Student Activist Coordinators Ivy Zhang and Noor Javid"

. "In the past few years a lot has changed within our organization: a new strategic plan, a new organizing model that re-focuses on building our grassroots presence and skills, and a restructure of the Northeast office. We are moving forward, planning for the future, and continuing to achieve human rights victories.  Amnesty members in the greater NY area have not had an Area Meeting in over two and a half years—the  time is right to reconnect with each other and re-kindle our NYC activist’s solidarity."

. "At the Area Meeting, we will spend time sharing out ideas and learning from one another to strengthen our movement.  The sessions scheduled for the Area Meeting are: Amnesty’s current campaign work, the new organizing model, and crowdsourced ideas and best practices—and, of course, you’ll get to meet and network with fellow activists!"

. "There is no cost to attend the Area Meeting and lunch will be served, but registration is required because of building security practices."

EMAIL ME BACK GUYS. It'd be great if one of the other board members can come with me! If none of you guys can make it, I'll open it up to other members of the club. But I think this would be really helpful for us board members! LET ME KNOW BECAUSE WE HAVE TO REGISTER FOR IT :)
