Happy New Year
Amnesty International USA
Women's Action Network
Last year, YOU TOOK ACTION for Women's Rights, and it was truly an extraordinary experience to see your efforts impact global change. Click on a below pic to learn more about the positive change you helped make!
To celebrate a new year of activism, make 4 resolutions for women's human rights!
1 . Celebrate our human rights victories from 2013!
With your help we passed the International Violence Against Women Act (I-VAWA), the U.S. signed a strong Arms Trade Treaty  (decades in the making!) that included strong language about the effects of arms on women, freed members of the all-female protest punk band Pussy Riot, helped save the life of Beatriz, a woman forced to wait to life-saving medical care, and much more!  Celebrate!
2. Take action and send a message.
Women human rights defenders in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bangladesh, Honduras, and Mexico need to hear from you!  By sending a message of solidarity to these courageous people, you send a message of hope to those who must daily find the courage to stand up for human rights. Click on any of the countries above to be taken to the case-sheet and see how you can write, email, or tweet in solidarity to stand alongside these brave human rights defenders!
3. Learn about: My Body, My Rights!
The My Body, My Rights campaign will be a focus campaign for us in 2014.  The campaign focuses on sexual and reproductive health rights; these include, but are not limited to, a person's access to health services, counseling, sexual education and information.  In 2014, join us to advocate for the removal of laws, policies, and barriers that prevent access to these resources and information.  Read more about the campaign on our webpage or in our latest issue of Amnesty's newsletter.
4. Get connected!
Stay connected this new year to women's human rights! Friend us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter!  And share this newsletter with your friends!
