I was asked for more information about this picture. It was taken on
the front steps of the North Georgia Baptist College in Morganton,
Georgia. The college was founded in 1900 and closed in 1926 and
Fannin County High School was established in this facility. There are
only two of the people in this picture still living. My mother
Myrtice Guthrie Neal (daughter of Bertha Ammons Guthrie) who was four
years old when this picture was taken. She and my father attended the
Franklin Ammons reunion this year with me. The other in this picture
that is still living today is Edith Beaver who was the daughter of
Bessie Ammons Beaver. Bertha and Bessie were daughters of James
Grayson and Laura Dills Ammons. Laura Dills Ammons is in the Photo.
James Grayson Ammons died in 1905. In the photo the Williams Children
were children of Bill and Martha Ammons Williams. The Guthrie
Children were the children of Oscar and Bertha Ammons Guthrie. The
Beaver children were the children of Crawford and Bessie Ammons
Beaver. The Grantham children were the children of E. G. & Ida Ammons
Grantham.
Rev. James Grason Ammons and Laura Cowan Ammons had 8 children. Four
of the eight (John B., Martha, Allen and Ida) are in the photo.
Minnie Lee died 1 day after birth. Alice Bell, Lula Kansas and Joshua
were not present. Rev. James Grason Ammons and Laura Dills Ammons had
4 children. Bertha and Bessie were present. Maggie Lee Ammons died
near 1 year old. Ernest was not present. Bertha Ammons Guthrie and
Bessie Ammons Beaver homes were on property that adjoined the property
where the North Georgia Baptist College was located. I think that
Laura Dills Ammons was living with Bessie Ammons Crawford at that
time.
