From Sister Confianza
We are celebrating Christmas quietly here in Honduras as I slowly recover from my broken rib. It continues to hurt, though a lot less than at first. Sister Alegría cleans the wound near my elbow every day and it is healing nicely. (I got gouged by a rock when I fell off my bike two weeks ago.) I got the bike fixed up on Monday and have ridden it a little very carefully around town.
I attended the public health clinic's Christmas dinner on Tuesday and got to bring home goodies for Sister Alegría. We were able to have our traditional midnight Christmas Eve service singing favorite carols in Spanish. What a contrast from last year when I was still dealing with long COVID, needed lots of sleep, and couldn't last speaking or singing!
Sister Annette's 41st birthday is on December 29. We are sorry she can't celebrate it with us here. But we are working with a Panamanian lawyer to get her a visa so she can travel through that country, get her Honduras visa there, and finally join us. It will cost a bit extra, but we were hopeful that it will work out. Please continue to pray for her. She is feeling overworked at her job in Jamaica and is concerned that her work permit will run out.
Lorany's daughter Deilin has been helping me with the permaculture project. Today her son Alexi also joined in. We are filling this hole with rotting wood to become a garden bed. It's called hugelkultur, from the German for "mound".
I hope you and yours are having a lovely holiday amidst the craziness of the world. The good news is: God is with us, in all of it!
Bendiciones,
Sister Confianza
