Notes from Sister Confianza:
Most of the money spent are the usual expenses you are familiar with.
*Health care included a trip to the gastroenterologist plus medication to finally rid me of giardia. Starting in February, I am using an expensive asthma inhaler regularly to help control the long COVID lung symptoms, so our monthly medicine bill is now about $100 higher.
*Clothing costs were the purchase of a huge spool of thread and a pair of slides (shoes) for me.
*Library expenditures include a box of books from the US, as well as paper and ink to print out a big book on tropical permaculture we got free online. We don't divide book purchases into categories, even though some of them are specifically related to agriculture or other expense line-items.
*Communication included not only internet costs but another phone charger and earbuds. Ever since the original Samsung charger cord wore out after several years, we've had to replace it every few months; they just aren't the same quality. Plus, the electricity here is unreliable and surges occasionally ruin an appliance or cord.
*We finally decided to buy a hanging balance to weigh corn and other things we sell by the pound. That went under
Household costs.
*Immigration is a category that shows up every few years. In February, I renewed my permanent residency card. Because I was sick with COVID, I wasn't able to do it before the expiration date (Oct 2024), so we had to pay a big fine. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it in my new legal name. We'll have to go through a lawyer for that.
*We decided to put the shipping fee for
my new Social Security card application under Financial costs rather than as a name change expense. The other costs are mostly Paypal fees from electronic donations.
*After a few months off due to illness, Don Tino and his son are working on the new motherhouse again. The Construction is looking great!
*A new entry this year is Permaculture. In January, I learned about online courses in permaculture design, and Sister Alegria and I have decided to enroll me in one through Oregon State University. These first expenses were a few "school supplies" like notebooks and pencils.
Thanks for your continued support.
Bendiciones,
Sister Confianza
