Goodbye: Join us in giving a big round of applause to Judy Billings, who served as the monastery's volunteer financial manager in the US since 2013!

Judy and Sister Alegria (known as Beth) in 2005

In March, Judy retired after twelve years of steady, faithful, top-notch work.  We are so grateful for her dedication as a loyal friend and careful accountant for so many years.  Judy's history with Sister Alegria goes back some 50 years.  They met in the early 1970s at the United Methodist Church they both attended in Milwaukee, WI, and began a life-long friendship.  With children of similar ages, they had reason to spend time together and stay in touch, even when life moved them apart geographically.  Sister Alegria even visited Judy's home in Ft Myers, FL, in 2004, after spending time at ECHO learning about tropical agriculture in preparation for founding the monastery. (see https://echonet.org)  Judy now lives at a Christian retirement home in Ft Myers, IL.  Please keep her in your prayers as she and her husband deal with health issues.

Hello:  Now join us in welcoming Colleen Rosshirt as our new US financial manager!  For several years, we'd been looking for someone in a younger generation to take over Judy's position.  We finally found her in Colleen, a friend of mine.  Back in 2004-2005, we lived in the same house community of Lutheran Volunteers in St Paul, MN, where she had charge of our shared checking account.  (check out https://lutheranvolunteercorps.org/)  A civil justice lawyer, Colleen has a good head for business, as well as a fun-loving artistic side.  She lives in her hometown of Columbus, OH with her husband and their five-year-old son.

I made Colleen my Power of Attorney in January, and she and Judy worked together for a couple of months to get Judy off of and Colleen added to our US Bank account.  We've kept Colleen busy since she took over in March, as we work on getting my name changed on the account.  She's also had to wire us money several times because of problems with checks.  Please send up a prayer of gratitude for Colleen, that she might stay happy and healthy as she supports us in this new way.

Bendiciones,
Sister Confianza
