I see we haven't yet sent a financial report for 2021! Maybe better late than never.  We are still a bit behind getting our finances in order, but I hope to send a 2022 half-year report shortly!

Most expenses, as well as donations, were much higher (sometimes twice or more) as in 2020. Here are some specifics:
*Provisions includes both groceries and purchased meals.  When we went to the city for health care (doctor appointments, surgery for Sister Confianza, stent placement for Sister Alegria), and during recovery at the monastery, we spent a lot of money on packaged and pre-made food.
*A big part of Household costs in 2021 was paying guys to help with firewood, yardwork, and building a new path to the road.
*Communication includes the purchase of a new computer, repairs for cell phones and computer, as well as our phone bill.
*Health care costs were high, particularly due to Sister Alegria's stent placement at a private hospital (over $9,000) and new expensive heart medicines. We also include here all health-related taxi and bus fares, plus hotels.
*We only count Transportation separately for general overnight travel. It's under health if the trip was specifically for health care.
*The biggest Alms expense was to help put a new roof on the public hospital in Tocoa.  We bought solar panels for the lab in Limon in January. In June we purchased workbooks for the junior high with a special earmarked donation.
*Paypal + Bank Fees is a new category.  Whenever folks donate online, a percentage is kept by Paypal for providing this convenience.  We occasionally incur bank fees in transferring money.
*2021 was still in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic.  As we had stopped going into Limon regularly to work at Centro de Salud, we no longer sold as many packages of peanuts, jam, or eggs.  We also no longer changed buses on long trips, so sold fewer Upper Room booklets.

We are so grateful to all who have donated to support us and our monastic life, and to help our poor neighbors in this part of Honduras. Thank you!

Bendiciones,
Sister Confianza
