From Sister Confianza
Sister Alegria and I are sick with COVID--again. It is the second time for her, the third for me. I began having long-COVID lung symptoms a week ago Sunday, and by Wednesday, I felt really exhausted. All this
I attributed to trying out doing a half-hour of machete work each morning (wanting to clean the yard). I was scheduled to go to Tocoa on Thursday, and since I felt better Wednesday afternoon, I went ahead with the trip, wearing two face masks to protect myself. Friday, I was very tired, and accepted that I had a cold or some other virus.
Sister Alegria got sick with it on Sunday. A sore throat was the first symptom for both of us, followed by a productive cough, headache and bodyache. Yesterday, she accepted that it was probably COVID, due to the typical dry cough. On top of it all, she clearly had a bladder infection, so I went to the clinic to pick up an antibiotic. Since Sister Alegria is allergic to acetaminophen and can't take ibuprofen because of her heart medicines, the only pain medicine she uses is caffeine -- sips of CocaCola to ease the headache without bothering her tummy.
I was improving by Monday, and Sister Alegria's a bit better today (probably because of the antibiotic). Doctora Perla came by this morning (she wasn't around yesterday) and administered a nasal swab test on Sister Alegria, which came out positive for COVID. We assume that's what I've had as well, but didn't bother with a test, since we figure the long-COVID would just confuse things.
Unfortunately, my chest is worse this afternoon after a bike ride, so I
will be more careful. Lorany won't come to work tomorrow, but will wash our
clothes at her house instead.
We appreciate your prayers for healing--and that it doesn't have lasting effects.
