From Sister Confianza

I finished the six month long online Permaculture course I took through Oregon State University! My teacher took a liking to me and my work, and gave me perfect grades. I am now a member of the Permaculture Institute of North America (https://pina.in/about/) and will soon receive my certificate as  permaculture designer.  However,  I am only a beginner,  and for all the interesting things I learned in the course, it mostly shows me how much more there is to learn! Permaculture integrates many fields of natural science and indigenous knowledge to help modern humans create ways of living in harmony with the natural world, caring for people and the earth while living small and giving back from our abundance.

I had wanted to highlight just a few pages from my nearly 150-page assignment portfolio.  However, just as the course finished, so did the computer. The charger no longer charges, and there are a lot of other problems with hardware,  so we may have to get a new computer. For now, Sister Alegría and I are sharing the phone. Here's a link to my final assignment. Move a couple of pages down and you can take a look at my design for the property where we live. You can also take a look at the rest of the Goodle Slides presentation from earlier. There are some interesting tidbits about local plants and animals, as well as the crops we hope to be growing.

I am now eagerly implementing the next components, including planting trees and bulding a hugelkultur garden bed. Unfortunately, yesterday on my way back from the motherhouse, I took a spill on my bike.  I hit a pothole at the bottom of a hill and landed hard on my left side in the mud of the packed dirt and gravel road.  I'm all scraped up and bruised, and may have a cracked rib. It hurts to move around much (especially bending over and breathing deeply), but I am grateful that my legs work fine and I didn't bump my head.  I guess I won't be doing much physical work this week!

Thank you for your continued prayers.
