(oops, the update got sent before I'd finished the last part)

When I handed the bag of provisions to the woman, she smiled broadly and thanked me.  She didn't ask for cash, which would have been normal.  I was glad, though I was ready to give her a little something.  

Later in the day, I biked to the grocery store and restocked our pantry for 215 lempiras ($8), to make sure that we can eat for the next week. If the woman returns I will inquire more about her situation.  But in the meantime, everyone was satisfied with the interaction, and we all got to eat a well-balanced meal or two that day!
