I'm looking to compile ALL of the software for the Amiga computer onto CD
and play/use them on my PC via an emulator.
If anybody knows of any software sites to download a LOT of amiga software
from, or preferably, has already taken the time/trouble to download all of
the software for the amiga computer and is willing to sell me the CD, PLEASE
let me know.
Thanks!

The Amiga isn't an 8 bit box - there's more than 650MB of software for it ;p

I would believe there's more than that amount of software for some
8 bit boxes too, most probably at least the Commodore 64.
I-Hate-Spam, did it ever cross your mind that some Amiga games have
actually *come on CD-ROMs when released*? Try fitting two or three of
those onto your single "Every Amiga Game Ever" CD-R...

Funny reading the thread....
Did it ever occur to anyone that the original poster never said just ONE CD?
He only said he would like to compile it all onto CD. Not "a" CD. ;-)
Jim
And he didn't restrict it to only game programs...

Um, yes he did specify just one CD. Look at the bit I snipped and you
did not bother to re-insert:

"The CD" sounds pretty much like he is talking about just one CD.

MUCH MUCH more for MUCH MUCH better SPECTRUM.

No problem, just rip audio tracks and animations.
Potatoes, pototoes.
He first states just to put it on CD
then lastly states buy a CD
Half and half. Either case he wants games compiled
on CD. ;-)
Jim
"MUCH MUCH better SPECTRUM"? The same Spectrum which had 8-colour
graphics at 240*120 or something instead of 16-colour graphics at
320*200? The same Spectrum which had "beep, beep" sounds instead of
3-channel 4-waveform sound? The same Spectrum which had usually 16k
memory (48k if you were really lucky) instead of 64k as standard?
What is so "MUCH MUCH better" about it? For some reason, the British
are wacko over their Spectrums. I always thought there was
something odd about the British.

256x192. 16 colours if you include "bright" mode.

Worse, it was a polled-IO single bit on an output port.

48k was fairly standard for the Spectrum. 16k Spectrums were quite rare and
wouldn't run most of the software available for it anyway.
> instead of 64k as standard?
16kB of ROM and 48kB of RAM, to fill the address space completely. To put
more into it involves faffing around with bank switching. Later models of
Spectrum had bank-switched memory to give it 128kB, but I don't recall it
being a particularly heavily-used feature.

The Spectrum was dirt cheap and readily available, and many people migrated
to it from the even cheaper ZX81.

This only strenghtens my argument.

The C=64 had fully addressable 64k of memory, but only about 42-45k of
it was available for users. The C=128 (and the luxury model C=128D
with integrated disk drive) also had the bank-switched 128k memory.

So? What does this have to do with "much much better"? Some pocket
calculators at the time cost about a quid or perhaps even less, but
you don't hear people saying they're "much much better" than
Spectrums (Spectra?).
