Newbie Seeking Guidance: Understanding and Implementing Ames Stereo Pipeline (ASP)

My name is Kumar Waibhav Akshat, and I'm reaching out as a complete novice to the world of photogrammetry and specifically to the Ames Stereo Pipeline (ASP) software. I recently discovered ASP and am incredibly keen to learn and utilize its powerful capabilities for planetary mapping, creating DEMs from satellite imagery, and rover navcam images etc.

I've been attempting to go through the official documentation and tutorials, but I'm finding it quite challenging to grasp the core concepts, the detailed working principles, and the practical implementation steps. As someone with limited prior experience in this domain, I'm struggling to connect the dots and understand the complete workflow from start to finish.

I was hoping to find some guidance and support from this knowledgeable community. 

Specifically, I'm looking for a more in-depth explanation of
The fundamental working principles of stereo photogrammetry as applied in ASP. How does it derive 3D information from 2D images
A comprehensive breakdown of the ASP pipeline: What are the individual modules,  what do they do, and how do they fit together in a typical workflow?

• Practical, step-by-step guidance on using ASP: I'm particularly interested in understanding the common commands, their parameters, and how to interpret the outputs at each stage.

• Troubleshooting common issues: What are some frequent hurdles new users encounter, and how can they be overcome?

I understand that the documentation is thorough, but I learn best through interactive discussion and by seeing practical examples. Therefore, I would be incredibly grateful if anyone in this group would be willing to:

• Provide a high-level "roadmap" for learning ASP, suggesting a logical progression of topics and tools to focus on for a beginner.

It is suggested to use another reference to understand how stereo works. The process is rather well established and our approach is quite conventional. 

A flowchart exists in chapter 14.

It is advised to start with section 4.1, which has a detailed example with all steps and visualization included. 

I know it can feel overwhelming. The best approach may be to start somewhere and observe yourself making concrete progress as you achieve results you can Inspect. The higher level understanding will likely increase as you go.
