to AmericanSaddlebreds
Perhaps the Saddlebred is the progenitor of his own problems. So
wonderful is he at being the superlative show horse - gaited or
otherwise - that it is easy to presume he couldn't possibly excel at
anything else. But of course he can - and does.
However, having spent years trying to amass data on Saddlebred
achievements outside of the show ring I have met with total misery.
I KNOW they excel elsewhere and I cannot find out very much. So
those who are interested in learning more about the Saddlebreds' non-
showing skills are bound to meet with total failure and therefore go
on presuming they have no other uses.
This applies whether the animals are stallions or not. Surely one
good way to expose our stallions to a greater audience is the Stallion
Parade. Mixed breed parades give the option of some performance and
explanatory commentary - what better option for the stallion show
horse to demonstrate the athleticism/temperament/potential of the
breed to an unsuspecting audience???
