In this age of the Internet, ASHA is happy to provide its members and
Saddlebred enthusiasts everywhere, no matter their interests, an
opportunity to exchange views, support each other in their Saddlebred
pursuits, and receive official information and responses to member
inquiries from the leadership of the American Saddlebred Horse
Association and American Saddlebred Registry.

You can rely on what you read here -- as nowhere else -- for the
official positions of the Association and Registry, and responses to
members.

To prevent spamming, and to provide for efficient use of staff time,
we have enabled a message queue which provides for moderator review of
all messages before posting. You must be a member of this group to
post, but membership in ASHA is not required. However, we would
encourage ASHA members to identify themselves -- especially so that
we can respond efficiently to particular problems or questions.

Alan F. Balch
Executive Secretary/Registrar
American Saddlebred Horse Association/Registry

Thank you, Alan

Hopefully, we can enjoy some "transparent" discussions in a proactive
manner to help us to help these wonderful horses become more popular!

I am so impressed that the ASHA with Alan Balch's initiative has made
this effort to update their ability to listen to it's membership
through the use of the internet and this group on Google. It will be
up to the membership to use this great tool not only to interact with
our fellow members but also to be able to speak to the leadership
directly through this group.
In contrast to private email, it seems that many people feel more free
to discuss Hot Topics by having anonymity if they wish. Although this
forum of exchange because of this freedom can bring with it some
annoyance, I think overall it is a most welcomed way to exchange ideas
and it is an exciting new venture into the future of our breed club
and our breed.
I hope we all use this opportunity with respect, and still keep it
full of fun. Let's enjoy!

I too am thrilled to see this venue made available! Once more people
discover it, it is sure to become wildly popular.

I especially hope the 'old timers' (I do not quite count myself in
that category yet, have only been riding/loving and admiring/studying
bloodlines of Saddlebreds since 1961, LOL) will become very active
providing some historical perspective. I am, however, old timey
enough to remember when a 'good' Saddlebred was not ewe-necked, and a
more realistic expectation of headset, based on good conformational
principles and knowledge of horse body biomechanics was the norm among
breed aficionados. I would love to see a return to that mindset.
