Thank you for the comments and suggestions we've received on the
upcoming elections for directors of ASHA for 3-year terms beginning
in
February.

Early in January, ballots are sent to all eligible voting members of
ASHA that will include biographical information on each individual
candidate. We are also suggesting that each candidate prepare a
brief
statement of their perspectives about the breed and their particular
areas of interest.

Some suggestions have been received that we have a question/answer
format for the candidates. Although we wonder how practical this is,
since there are an infinite number of questions to be asked, we are
having a meeting of all candidates shortly and will pose this idea to
them. However, please be advised that the candidates have already
been subject to a fairly intense review process, including
questioning, by the Nominating Committee in its selection process.
The Nominating Committee and ASHA leadership, per the procedures in
the bylaws, are confident in the commitment and ability of all the
candidates, even though only 6 of the 8 will be elected.

One member suggested releasing the biographical information on the
candidates prior to the mailing of the ballots, which must be
received
at ASHA for tallying on or before Friday, February 1, 2008. Even
though there will be several weeks for review of this material when
mailed to all the members in January, we will release the
biographical
information and statements, and post them on our web site, once they
are received from all candidates. We anticipate this being some time
in the upcoming few weeks.

The biographies, personal statements, and photographs of the
candidates have now been posted on the ASHA website, at the Governance
section of the ABOUT ASHA tab.

This month's USEF magazine contains listings of horse shows for the year. Why are very few ASB shows listed in this show list? I pay the same dues as the hunter/jumper folks. What is going on here?
