to American Secession Project
Welcome, the intention of this collaborative effort is an extension of
the purpose of the American Secession Project - to place the concept
of secession in the mainstream of political thought. Our intent is to
proclaim that secession is a viable and legal right and a practical
solution to contemporary problems. Secondly, we desire to build a
coalition of groups seeking autonomy and independence within the
current United States. Mutual support for the concept of
self-determination and secession will eventually benefit all groups
seeking freedom.

Secessionist come in all ethnic and cultural backgrounds colors and
religious persuasions. Secession is neither liberal nor conservative,
it is a right that might be equally applied regardless of a group's
persuasion. The folks that support a free California and an Independent
Alaska certainly disagree on numerous issues, specifically
environmental issues. However the concept of supporting another in
their bid to manage their own affairs is certainly a historic American
(if not 20th century American) point of view.

Keep post related to the general topic of secession, autonomy and
devolution and relatively absent of blatant right/left politics. The
beauty of the concept of secession and local autonomy is that even the
for left and right can agree to disagree and mutually support each
other's right to desire a government in their own home/state/region
that reflects their particular political bent.
Be civil and keep things clean. Thanks for joining with us in this
important discussion.

This is a new and fairly quiet list - by intention - most of us get too much
email each day as it is. Much more is going on in the world of
devolution/secession than I have time to comment on, but feel free to share
your thoughts and news with the list as you wish.

I am interested to know if there is anyone from New Orleans specifically on
the list. I have an inquiry from someone down that way that would like to
converse.

Regards

Yes.

As one who does one hour radio interviews, when you say "Much more is going
on in the world of devolution/secession than I have time to comment on," I
have time and I'd very much like to do a show on just that. Tues and Thurs,
noon to one. And speaking as a northerner, sorry about that horrible
needless war. Burt Cohen

I have been over there already and it is horrible and needless...oh you were
talking about The War. No hard feelings - we all lost in that war, we lost
State's Rights and the original intent of the Constitution, which directly
led to the necessity that many of us, from many parts of America, see now as
the primary cause of our need to secede and go our separate ways.

I am in Korea, my current contribution to "the cause" consists almost
entirely in blogging. Of the three folks I copied you on in my email I
believe you should find a suitable and proficient candidate - each is either
the driving force behind a state movement or in the case of one gentlemen an
active voice for his state secession movement.

ASP is just a voice for the validity of secession; the real work happens in
the various state and local movements. Kirkpatrick Sale and the Middlebury
institute being first among equals in that regard. He is on the CC line of
the message I sent you. I cannot speak for him, but I believe he will be
inclined to interview with you.

I contacted some other folks that work more quietly and discreetly about
your interest in an interview. If they are interested I will put you in
contact.

Regards

Thanks so much; it's set up with Kirkpatrick Sale. And I intend to become
involved, somehow. It's the right thing to do. Thanks again, Burt Cohen
