Strawberry-red enameled bivalve egg made of the highest grade silver (91 gold pieces), which corresponds to 950 pieces of silver.
Each leaf is decorated with a separate guilloche pattern. The egg is opened longitudinally by means of chrysoprase buttons (one chrysoprase button is missing).
One side of the egg is decorated with Cyrillic letters H.V. - Christ is Risen, and the other
Old Slavonic letter “A” under the imperial crown of the Russian Empire, which together form the monogram of the Cesar together form the monogram of Tsesarevich Alexei Nikolaevich (1904-1918).
The egg was made in the workshops of the Imperial Stroganov School, as evidenced by the following brand of the master I.S.U, as well as silk lining with the logo of the school. Date
manufacture - 1904-1905 years, which is confirmed by the assay mark in the form of a
female head, facing left (1818-1905), head turned to the left (1899-1908).
Egg height of 6.3 cm contains a surprise: strawberry-red enameled egg-shaped
miniature gold wax seal measuring only 2.5 cm. The body of the seal is adorned
rose-cut diamond and cabochon sapphires forming a stylized question mark. Site
The matrix is formed by an enameled gold coin of Empress Elizabeth of Russia.
The hollow handle of the seal most likely served as a reservoir for storing holy water.
