The tallest of the artificial mountains at Walt Disney World Resort, the "forbidden mountain" of Expedition Everest commands the skyline at a towering 200 feet. It is fictionally part of the same Himalaya mountain range as Mount Everest, represented by the forced perspective peak on the far right. The roller coaster within (80-foot drop pictured) is themed as a passenger train offering a speedy route through the Himalayas to the base of Mount Everest; it is unique in that the train moves forward and backward during the course of the ride.

The attraction occupies 6.2 acres in the Animal Kingdom's Asia section and is listed in the 2011 edition of Guinness World Records as the world's most expensive roller coaster. Including sets and extras, the total cost of the ride was $100M in 2006 after six years of planning and construction.
