What teamwork we have! I got a flat tire in front of The Surf on my way to the ride start. Knowing I would not make it in time to do the safety briefing, I texted Jim. He wasn’t going to be at the start so he got ahold of John who did the Safety Briefing and took the obligatory pic. Thanks so much! I back tracked on the route and met everyone near the paper mill enterance.
Now to that flat tire, a piece of wire went right through the tire and tube. I got the wheel off, replaced the inner tube, mounted the wheel and pumped it up. All good so far, then I remove the pump which screws on to the stem of the inner tube, well instead of coming off, the valve unscrewed and came completely out! The next shot at it I tightened the valve into the inner tube with the wrench which is part of the pump. I could say this is a lesson learned, it is actually a lesson re-learned. This has happened before, the real problem is my bad memory! … Rich
