Hello all,
We had sunny skies, cool temps, and a bit of wind on the ride today. All in all, not a bad day to ride. We had seven cyclists participate in today's ride! It was once again an Amy and the guys ride! We all gathered at Peter's Point and headed out after the safety briefing was given. Randall had to return home because he forgot his helmet, but he found us at Burney Park.
With Randell in tow, we all headed down the trail to the George Crady Fishing Pier; however, not too many people were fishing today!
Take a look at the pictures, and you will see that sand has taken over the entrance to the pier. No worries, the park staff was already there getting the sand off the road. Of course, we took extra caution not to fall in the sand! We had no mechanical issues, BUT, I was VERY close to getting hit by a car crossing Amelia Island Parkway to get back to Peter Point, and yes, I was crossing with the pedestrian light. How the driver did not see me on my yellow bike is beyond me—getting tired of these close calls? Friendly reminder: ride defensively!
I need someone to lead next week's ride for me, as I will be heading to St. Pete's to help with Bike Florida's Sunflower Tour. Hey ladies, there are still open spots for this ride!
Have a great rest of the week,
Amy
