Yesterday morning brought another beautiful mid-November day to go for a bike ride, and anything else anybody wanted to do--including watching the Dawgs beat the Horns! Starting the day off right, we had 17 registered cyclists show up at Main Beach to catch up on the recent news, listen to a strict safety briefing, and to giddy-up and go.
The first and most important topic of conversation was concerning our dear friend, Peter P, who was injured last week when he crashed his bike into a parked landscape trailer on Clinch Drive. Amy reported she had talked to Peter's wife who said he is still in the hospital and may require surgery. AFAIK, he is in good hands at UF Shands, which many of us know well, so prayers and best wishes go out to Peter P and his family for a smooth recovery.
We also chatted briefly about the Open House being held at the Airport Community Garden, hosted by Farmer-in-Chief Dan G, and other gardeners including our own Kathleen F. Later that day, I took a break from football on TV for some delicious snacks and a tour of gorgeous raised beds, growing greens and other veggies, and marigolds being visited by a monarch butterfly! 🦋
Thanks to all who came out to ride with us yesterday, and to Peter B and Mike L for taking on the responsibilities of leading the ride. Well done, y'all!
