Okay, so I'll quit complaining...for now. As had been forecast, the temperature this morning at ride-start time was 47 degrees F, with a brisk wind out of the NNW--which did not deter 17 registered NFBC cyclists who showed up at Main Beach to go for a bike ride.
Today being the first Saturday of February 2026, it was again time to pass the helmet and collect Dollars for Doggies, our way of thanking the Nassau Humane Society for their Dog Park hospitality and all they do for lucky dogs. I later drove Janis the SAGWagen to deliver a pile of $104.00 in cash, meaning since we started our little fundraiser in October 2016, we have donated a grand total of $12,889.00. And we're not done yet!
It sure felt cold riding into the wind on the Ft Clinch canopy road, but ahh, the sunshine felt good at our Ft Clinch and Dog Park rest stops. Meanwhile, Amy chatted and guided NFBC dignitaries who came up from JAX to join in on the merriment, including Prez Scott K, Ride Director Beth S, and Wheelspeak Editor Diane C. BTW, Amy K is officially NFBC's Event Director, so I guess Amy directed today's event--and what an event it was.
Thanks again to Peter B for assuming the reins and responsibility of leading today's ride, and to George K for sending some fine photos for today's Ride Report, Part I. Enjoy the views, y'all!
