Today was a near-perfect day to go for a bike ride, with a forecast of zero percent chance of rain, little to no humidity, a seabreeze out of the SSE, puffy clouds in a deep blue sky looking a bit like the 'bean. So we had 15 NFBC.us registered riders show up at Main Beach, and a whole lot more, including "family" from Camden County.
It was good to see Jerry Y back on his bike, recovering from a not-so-recent mishap, as well as Nan and Don B up from Jacksonville. We also welcomed two birthday boys, John S and Denis L, born a mere 40 years apart, so we treated both to a rousing and somewhat off-key "Happy Birthday."
As this was the first Saturday in the month of June 2026, it was again time to pass the helmet to collect our Dollars for Doggies, and I later delivered $40.00 in cash to the Nassau Humane Society. That means we have donated a grand total of $13,325.00--our way of thanking the Nassau Humane Society for their Dog Park rest-stop hospitality, and for all they do for lucky dogs. Yes, we miss Dan L, but thanks go out to him for starting our little fundaiser in October of 2016, and we'll keep it up as long as we can.
Meanwhile, today's Fernandina Beach Pride parade and festival downtown did not interfere with our bike ride, but instead added to the fun. Thanks again to all who came out to ride with us today.
