A great looking group of patriots showed up at Main Beach this morning, on America's 250th birthday, to go for a bike ride. We technically had 17 NFBC registered riders, plus at least one more, so I have lost count. But we were all glad to see each other, the weather was just fine, so thanks to co-ride leaders Mike L and Amy K, good times were had by all.
Today was not only our country's Independence Day, but it was also the first Saturday of the month of July, 2026, meaning we passed the helmet once again to collect a whopping $112.00, which I later delivered to the Nassau Humane Societ--our way of showing our appreciation for their Dog Park hospitality and all they do for lucky dogs (and tired cyclists). For the record, we started our little fundraser in October of 2016, and we have now collected and donated a grand total of $13,437.00! Thanks to all who have participated over the years. You know who you are!
As the sun rose in the sky, cyclists got hotter and sweatier, but there were no reports of mishaps or mayhem. So thanks again to all who came out to ride with us today,
Stay cool, y'all--and Happy Birthday, USA!
